Generally speaking Tilda is overpriced imo,
Asda had a 5kg bag for £5 2 years ago, bought 4, still going through them :)

None in Swansea or Cardiff Bay. Best price I get is £22 for 20kg (Akash) from Makro. Used to buy it in the Chinese cash & carry type store in Cardiff as it was recommended by several Chinese buyers. Takes fine and cannot tell the difference between this of Tilda (but the curry sauce may have something to do with that!).

basmati rice is not the "king of rice" by the way.

Cold from me..as you can get 10kg of this one in most Chinese Cash n Carry for £9-£10...

maybe so, i would never want to pay more than 1 pound a kilo for rice. but tilda is the best basmati rice around here. i have tried many others and most of them are adulterated basmati rice. tilda is really good

Find a corner shop that specialises in Asian food - there are 2 good ones around here in Basingstoke and in most towns. Such shops stock rice as good quality as this (but probably a foreign brand you've never heard of) for about the same as this sale price.

This is a good point but how do you know which one is the best for your taste as buying 10kg of rice to find out its yuk isnt a bargin!

i agree completely. it is very expensive for what it is, but it is one of the best rices in the market. so when it retails at 1.60 a kilo, it is a good deal

tilda is no way the best rice ..if you go into any asian restaurant they dont use it as all your paying for is the name and not all rice tastes the same thai rice is much nicer than indian rice and rice from the usa is terrible ..

ive travelled all over the world and half of my family is asian and the best rice is tiger brand thai jasmine rice its full off flavour and doesnt burn as easily as basmati rice does when cooking..if you goto china town you can useally get this brand for about £11 for a 10kg bag that will last you for a few months..if youve never tried it get it if you love rice you will love tiger rice.
