Tilda Pure Basmati Rice 1kg: £1.20 @ ASDA

Just went shopping at our local ASDA store (Merthyr Tydfil) and found 1kg bags of Tilda Pure Basmati Rice for £1.20. To put that in context, their 750g bag costs £2.97! We were so impressed we got 3 bags, and went through the checkout no problem.

This offer is instore only - seems that it's ASDA selling off the end of line stock due to Tilda launching new-sized packs. (Therefore there may be other-sized packs on offer too: a 10kg pack has been spotted for £6!) Definitely worth a look if you're in store, particularly with the current price rises on rice!

PS. It's my first deal, so be kind! :)

"every asda or just your local one?"

Original post:
"I'm not sure if it is just in Merthyr Tydfil store, or if it's all stores, but it's worth a look if you're in store just in case" :p

Sorry, I know its not the same, but the Thai Jasmin rice @ Lidl which comes in at less than a quid a kilo is lovely.

Better than this or not, I don't know!

excellent find

10 kg bag costs £18+ so this is an excellent deal!

It's been this price in my local ASDA for the last two Weeks (Blyth) before that it was £1.00 per 1kg bag.

But still good value at £1.20 per Kg

Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, the Lidl jasmin rice has just gone up to £1.29, well in my local store anyway. It's a sign of the general economy, loads of their prices seem to be rising.

You're right though, the jasmin rice is excellent and I think Lidl is still the best place to do a weeks shopping though. According to my missus it's sad knowing the prices of Lidl items, lucky I do the shopping I reckon. :-D

New size rice packs on the way ASDA selling stock off
#19
nice...have some rep!

Great price but I reckon it is this cheap because it's a discontinued pack size - my local ASDA (High Wycombe) only sells 750g and 1.5kg Tilda Basmatic rice - no shelf ticket for 1kg bags. This is one to stock up on if you have it in your local as a 1.5kg bag was nearly £6! The cheapest other basmati rice ASDA had was £1.66/kg. No sweet chilli Heinz meanz beans at my local either! Rubbish!

Have edited OP to reflect this being an end-of-stock reduction. I'm sorry you didn't find any, D J Fryer. S'pose it's just pot luck whether they have them in your store or not...

No need to apologise - great deal if you can get it.

For basmati rice that is quite expensive. For Tilda, I'm sure you can find it cheaper in your local indian grocers. Remember as long as you keep it in dry place, rice won't go off. So you can buy as much as you want and keep it for a while. With the current fluctuation of rice on the markets it might be worth stocking up.

Used to get the 4kg basmati bags from Asda for about £3.80 but they've doubled in price now =[ so hot deal if you can find any.
#25
Thats right the new packaging of 1.5kg and 750grms is now in store. This only applies to old package size 1kg etc..

Doubt any london store will have it as i have been to clapham junction one earlier and no rice there....Loads of Heinz Sweet and chilli beans for 17p though.

10kg Tilda Basmati Rice pack £19.54 .....:x So as far as I know deal is out!!

Purposely went to ASDA at Chesser, Edinburgh for this deal and the claimed so-called Braun hand held food mixer for £19. Both offers were non-existent! Not impressed by ASDA - don't think I will go there ever again. The only worthwhile offers are Hargen Daz ice cream for £2 and Kellogs Special Ks (non strawberry/chocolatey mix) selling for £2 (instead of £2.60). I wouldn't go all the way to ASDA for that! :x

not quite sure as a 10kg bag in an indian grocer(quite big) is £22 whereas asda was £18.50 so it was cheaper in ASDA
