Kiddha dosto!! (hello friends)

Another special. 2 x 5kg bags of Tilda Basmati for £15. They were flying off the pallets at Morrisons this afternoon. The cashier at the Queensbury branch said they were going to start restricting quantities per customer by the weekend if it carried on like this. I believe 10kg bags retail at about £20 in a lot of places and as the Morrisons deal comes in 2 bags, it is ideal for storage.

Pure basmati tastes like no other rice on earth. Basmati has travelled from the foothills of the Himalayas. Basmati with its exquisitely delicate texture, flavour and aroma, is the ideal rice to serve with a wide range of savoury dishes.

And Tilda is one the premium brands out there.

10kg's of rice, who needs that much?
#4
so what does everyone think of the rice offer if we've finally finished arguing?!
#5
The deal is not too great; you can pick up a 10kg bag of ‘Tilda Pure Basmati Rice’ for about £13-16 at most Asian-Food supermarkets. Likewise for 2x5kg.

OK if you don't have a Tesco or Asda near by - both are selling 5Kg for £6.

So you’re admitting that you were trying to suppress capricornianz for educating someone on a foreign language?

All cats are hunters. Not all hunters are cats. If I'd meant that, I'd have said that. Now, since we''re extrapolating what we think was said rather than what was said, are you admitting to being a Guardian reader?

I believe (even though its sold in smaller quantities), but these larger packings of Tilda, Laila and other such brands we see in Tesco's and other supermarkets are mostly aimed at Asian communities that uses rice as a staple food

A family of 4 normally consume around 5kg rice a month as its cooked almost 2-4 times a week.

Also, rice like wine with time turns into a better quality, hence some people tend to buy them in bulk and stock (unlike wine, rice tends to attract wiesels, hence should not be stored for too long :) )

The big independents in NW london (VB and Pick n Save) are both £20 for Tilda. You can get a cheaper brand for £13-16.

My local tesco was selling the small Tilda bags for 20/30p. Got 5kg worth for around £3, but guess I was lucky. Would never pay those sort of prices!

10kg 'Tilda' brand for £13-£16? Where?! Please tell.
Rice is eaten everyday in my (Bengali) household, and all the households of all my relatives. Been running a restaurant till recently, friends & family have restaurants too, and even have asian supermarkets. But don't know anybody who knows about Tilda at this price.

i buy for a group too and we have started building up stocks too. Tilda has never been at £13-16Even the wholesalers do not give us that price. In fact my main one is crying at this price!! Sagz has never provided evidence that he can find it cheaper. wish people like him would substantiate his comments but I guess they may be without foundation.
