Was going to get some Shimano's but a lot of people said these are better for your knees.

Taken from Bike Radar:

"The venerable ATAC Alium has the famous mud-phobic Time performance, plus Tonka-toy durability thanks to solid cast alloy construction and steel wire clear retention bars. You to choose if you have sensitive knees and youre really not that bothered by weight or high-tech glamour.

And, because this is one of the less glitzy models in Times range, the price tag is pretty attractive, too.

The steel axle performs perfectly, spinning on well sealed bearings that will last longer than most suspension concepts, while a positive clunk-click lets you know that youre clipped in.

The wire bars offer a higher degree of rotational and lateral float than the cast items on more modern Times good for anyone with sensitive knees.

The pedal works well right out of the box, and if you really dont mind the extra 100g over most other clipless models, youll be well rewarded by the Alium."

Ninjin - are you able to give some information on why these are better than Shimano? I am looking for some pedals at the moment and wondering how these are better for your knees.
Thanks for posting. And welcome to HUKD.
It is good practice to also add the merchant and price to the title. It helps people who are just browsing through. And in my experience your post will get a few more “hot” votes.

They are well worth taking a look at.
Again, thanks for posting, and welcome to HUKD.

I myself am new to the clip in pedals and asked my local bike shop to show me and explain how the cleat pedals work. Basically once you are clipped into the pedals, you still have some movement, I think it's measured in degree's. You can also make it tighter or looser but I think why they say the Time Alium is better for knees, is the degree of movement range is larger than the shimano SPD's. Therefore when you peddle, your knee has more room to move as you dont get limited my the peddles as much. I hope i'm correct! If not, please chip in your views.
