Ok,
So I received the camera yesterday (no 3 week wait) which is pretty good bearing in mind it would have been sent over the weekend.

As it has been mentioned, the camera is not HD - I have uploaded my own test video at the camera's Full HD mode - youtube picks it up at 320p which is pretty poor. However to be fair to the camera, there is a bit of image quality loss, when uploaded and it does look better played direct on my computer.

YouTube Video Here Please do not judge me!

It does serve a purpose, but I think your hope would be the camera would capture someone on the wrong side of the road, as opposed to seeing the finer detail.

I am a bit disappointed that the camera fails to pic up the number plate though - thought it would have done.

Summary - As a bit of fun it was worth a tenner

EDIT/ADDITION:

I have just got rid of one of these and it is certainly not a HD quality recorder. As someone said before VGA is being kind. It's difficult to see the number plate of the car in front in normal road conditions, unless stopped at lights for instance. 'Night vision' is rubbish and not worth recording unless really well lit. I now have a G1WH and it's streets ahead.

I would strongly urge anyone to get the G1W (120' wide angle in a few colours) or the tweaked G1WH (140' wide angle with a better casing, black only) both for around £35 from a reputable outlet (Deal Extreme / DX is recommended, free shipping too).

Both are extremely well equipped and true HD quality, just pop G1W (H) into YouTube or a search engine and check out one of the videos recorded on either model.

Some of the Hong Kong / Chinese G1W's around the £25ish mark have the lower grade Novatek chipset, hence the lower pricing and lower quality. You wouldn't necessarily know it has the lower chipset until you pull it apart or see a true G1W recording in my opinion.

mine says it has an nt96650 chipset whatever that means, picture is good enough for my needs

The NT96650 is the chipset it should come with if advertised as a G1W, As MORE4 has found out, some people sell the G1W(H) with the NT96220 chipsets in their clones, which is a lower quality and not what you think your getting.

I want to be able to read that number plate if that accident or drive-off actually happens, £10ish pounds to 'ensure' I got the right one was worth it to me. Like you said, if it does what you need it to do then everyone is happy.
Errr! The clue is in the price ! :((
My G1W from Ebay seller: abeyerr

Has the NT96220 chip

Full refund requested

Unsure if I would be expected to return the cam to the seller. I demanded that seller would pay postage in such instance

Best price for the Mobius anyone?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobius-ActionCam-Full-HD-Sports-Camera-1080P-30FPS-720P-60FPS-Pocket-Camcorder-/151071891306?pt=Camcorders_Professional_Video_Cameras&hash=item232c961f6a

Eletoponline365 have close links to Mobius, & have a great reputation for dealing with problems sympathetically.
Best price for the Mobius anyone?

I did see this one, but was put off because it didnt have a screen. I know you can plug a laptop into it whilst in the car to adjust the angle but as i do not have this facility i would never know if the angle was ok.

I've used a Mobius as a dashcam on a daily basis for the past 5 months, & I don't miss the absence of a screen at all. My girlfriend has a dashcam with a screen in her car, & her reaction after the first 5 minutes was "where's the menu option to turn the screen off?"

With the Mobius, you can connect it to an Android phone or tablet via OTG cable, or to laptop via USB cable or to any other display via AV cable.

In my case, it took a few minutes with a laptop to set up the aim to my satisfaction. Otherwise you can set the aim by eye, take a picture, remove the memory card & review the picture in a PC, make a slight adjustment to the aim & it's done. I've only removed the Mobius from the car twice in the past 5 months, which involved sliding it out of it's holder, which doesn't disturb the aim at all.

Apart from superb video quality, the best thing about Mobius is the commitment from the manufacturer in continual improvements via firmware upgrades, which even puts brands like GoPro to shame. Most cheap dashcams don't receive firmware upgrades, & leave buyers with issues that never get sorted out.

sold! im going for the Mobius too! however, i have a good amount of room on the dash so may go for the velcro option :)
I would urge caution on these type of 'Deals'. I placed an order for this through Amazon. THREE weeks later the item arrived, from Hong Kong!.

Initial look was that it appeared to be a genuine product however upon closer inspection something did not 'feel' quite right. The battery and cables looked the part and even the unit itself however when I put the batter in and switched the item on, nothing worked as it should have!

The screen resolution is by no means HD at all. To say VGA is being very kind. There are options in the software menu that claim to record in HD resolution however I will never know as this is all the unit did; switched on and allowed menu settings. The record function keys did not work. What happened was that whenever I pressed the 'Record' button then all buttons seemed to stop working and no recording took place. Even the power button did not work which meant I had to open the battery compartment and remove the battery.

I persevered for around an hour trying various button presses etc and reading the instructions to see if I was doing anything wrong but nope. Just could not get the unit to work.

Contacted the seller via Amazon and they offered me $7 goodwill gesture...i was like...WTF! I replied with this as the theme of the message and kindly explained that the item did not work and I would be happy to return it provided a prepaid stamp was issued however that was declined and I did end up getting a full refund and the item was binned. I did not even want to attempt to use the cables, battery or any other part of the kit as it clearly lacked any quality control. There was a little QC sticker on the side of the unit but no way are these units checked imo.

Thankfully I purchased it via Amazon which provides buyers with a good level of protection however this undoubted will damage their reputation and brand if they continue to allow the sale of substandard and cheap electronic items like this. Very poor quality and would definitely challenge the product description against the item capability.

If the police stop me and check all the footage on the dashcam, can they pile on a whole lot of other offences I normally do like tailgating, speeding, running red lights & the occasionl handbrake turn?

One to avoid, then.

These are useless had one installed for ages but never had a crash can't see the point. Miles of normal video of roads
Useless because of the quality or useless because you never had a crash?
If useless because you've never had a crash you could say the same for motorcycle helmets!

Sorry my daft so-called sense of humour didn't think people would take it seriously!
Been using for around 8 months now.
Daytime quality is perfect , night time is poor.
For the price it's spot on.
Auto recording when you plug it in, a word of warning, don't leave plugged in when starting the car as it tends to freeze up and you need to put a pin in the reset button.
Nice cheap and cheerful way to thwart the crash for car idiots, had many many near misses while using this.

Read the reviews on AMAZON for: -

SainStyle SRL-202 RGB Crystal Ball
TIMETOP New Digital LED RGB Crystal Magic Ball Effect
DUSIEC Mini LED RGB Crystal Magic Ball Effect

e.g: - A real 'party maker'.
"Lent it to a friend who impressed her crowd by lighting up a whole village hall. Seriously good value"

I bought this light for my children's birthday party (aged 12). For such a small machine it made a great disco atmosphere in the room and my kids and their friends loved it. I would definitely recommend this item.

Bought to use in a community hall for a 40th birthday and worked really well. In time to the music and managed to fill quite a large hall well.

I bought this for a kids' party and it was a huge success. It has good range and really creates an atmosphere.

Etc, etc, etc. Under £25 or Under £20 from Ebay worth making the kids happy surely?
As a dj there's no way I'd use something as cheap looking as that sorry!!!
These are AWFUL

Ive read up on this x360key & it seems pretty cool!

Yes indeed, would have been handy some time ago too.

just not looking foward to the rumours of dl games only!
Microsoft are apparently looking to close the second hand games market down, in turn meaning hard drives will become an even more integral peripheral for the next gen Xbox

You do know that Sony patented a similar thing for PS3 right at the start of PS3's life-cycle?

There is no guarantee the rumours that the next Xbox will not allow 2nd hand games are true.
Personally I think it would be suicide for the console.

But, to keep it fair & balanced, rather than just talking about Microsoft & the next Xbox remember that Sony got ready for this option years ago.

Cheers. I didn't know if it was safe or not to connect an external desktop HDD (WD Elements) to my Xbox 360.

Yes it's fine.
It will even ask you if you want to format the hard drive to section off that 32gb for game stuff (so be careful if the drive has stuff on it).
snakeybidder
I've been playing online with an x360key for about a year with no ban. I doubt this would get you banned. O and the x360key uses any hard drive you want and plays any game straight from hard drive.

O how I love being techy.....

That's new to me.
So with x360key you can use any hard drive through USB of any size for game back-ups & downloaded content?
Hmmm, I wonder if they'll let that one pass at this stage in the 360's life-cycle?
Bet they do.

The drives can be banned if they wanted to. Previously mentioned is the fact all none oem drives will share the same serial numbers. But its been years since they first came about and none have been banned because of it.

Exactly.
I know from personal experience that people have been doing this since the 120gb Elite came out & everyone wanted 120gb.
That was spring 2007.

So, while in theory it is correct that they could ban people for doing this, anyone seriously putting it forward as a reason not to do so has to answer why they haven't after all this time & why would they start now?

deathtrap3000
If you want to save games and dlc to an external drive you are still limited to 32gb.

Yes I know (well, actually it's 2 x 32gb sticks of flash you can use at any one time) but like many Xbox owners the (in my case 250gb) internal drive is strictly for saves, downloaded content & loading games to.
All my pics, music & films I wanted to use with it go on a 2tb external.

The point being that so long as you set aside the internal (or your up to 2 x 32gb flash drives) for game stuff there is no real limit on the amount of hard drive storage for everything else you might want to hook up.

Cheers. I didn't know if it was safe or not to connect an external desktop HDD (WD Elements) to my Xbox 360.
