That processor and HD space is terrible I would want a quad core for that price.
Got a quad 935 barbones from novatech for 179.99

That's not really adequate spec for a full-on gamers' PC. Plus, when you look at the price of the individual components, it's actually quite pricey.
#3
not a good price if you bought the components seperately...

Sweetchuck its a budget gaming PC, show me a better price for that, this will play Crysis on High Settings over 30FPS.

and Canada Quad Core means nothing for gaming at the moment, plus how much was the rest of your barbones?

Max-Power, Obviously but not everyone wants to buy seperate.

lol @ play Crysis on high settings ! on a 4850 ! hahahahahaha maybe at the start of the first level you will get over 30 FPS, lets see what you get at the end boss on this ! Or on the start of the second level with the planes flying past etc... ;)

Quad Core is supported in a lot of games now, Mass Effect 2 , BFBC2 , GTA IV, Left 4 Dead series, Dragons Age, to name just a few.

Bit expensive I am afraid :(

I am after a new PC and visited the Novatech site.

Some good offers there ... are the machines good quality ?

My existing one, from 2001 is causing problems and seems to be in the repair shop 2 or 3 times a year.

Only problem with overclockers is that some of their forum moderators are idiots who think they are god. I prefer to buy from Scan myself as it is cheaper and as good a service but with Gibbo back at OcUK it, they seem to have recovered some ground.

Depends what resolution X)

The airfield and train sections on Crysis Warhead murdered my overclocked i5 750/5850 setup playing at 1080p on extreme settings. They did look incredible though.

I have had no probs, if you have all the other kit, get a barebones for the mobo and psu, if not they make good stuff and if you live near one, you can always bring it back, never had one problem with them

Rubbish in my opinion, for an extra £12 i would go for this

Similarish question really as I'm on the lookout for a quad core to replace me olde 2200+sempron PC. Are the barebones kits on there really well thought wrt final system performance with all bits well matched or just a mish mash of various bit around a price point that will be 'OK'.

The permutations of a PC are crazy and I can't face researching the ins and outs of each component and then the suitability with component A to component B etc.

For office applications it would be faster, but it is certainly not a budget gaming machine like the one in this deal.

All,

1. Yes you can buy all the parts cheaper and build it yourself but that is not the deal. Heck you could buy all the parts of a washing machine and build your own but thats no reason to vote the deal cold.

2. This is a budget machine for games aimed at the low end market. A decent games machine is in a different league and would set you back over 1,000. This does what it says on the tin.

3. Who on earth cares about what they said on their boards. You buying a computer not voting them into government.

What a totally pointless comparison to draw. The reason people refer to the cost of components is that when you're dealing with a low-end spec like this, many people could simply upgrade their existing machine to something delivering similar performance for a fraction of the price being charged for this system. The same can't exactly be said for washing mashines.
