The reason for the cold votes is probably because the white ones were £17.99 a couple of days ago.

Yeah but like i stated, they are sold out n i cudnt get a pair before they sold out :(, but independant of that its still a good price for cx 500 :)

tbh, £7 for silver over white headphones is so worth it! hell if they were doing the black ones for another pound id probs get them. My cx300s are dying in one ear - are these that much better or shall i just get the cx300s replaced?

I got some spares off fleabay. 3 pairs for 1.50. you could try looking? I only need 1 pair though if you would like the rest let me know?

Seriously - if you want great headphones at a great price... BUY THESE NOW.

They sound great and cut out most of the background noise. I know other in-ear phones say the same but these are BITCHIN' !

Seriously, just get them. They have a nice medley of stuff included: 6 sets of ear rubbers, a pouch, clip and a thing the earphones slot into to protect them and stop them getting tangled.

I got them and it was very much a case of "where have you been all my life"...
#13
And that's just on my iPod shuffle... I liked my white ones so much I just got a set of the Tight-Aniums too!

Thanks mr OP :)

(tip: select all music in your iTunes library and then 'get info' - then select options tab, put volume slider up to +100% and hey presto - your music is much louder on your iPod - oh, uncheck 'sound check' in prefs too)

Personally i prefer the white ones because it goes well with my iPhone in white. I bought them last week for £17.99.

For once I forgot to check eBay, will take a looksee - thanks :)

I have a pair and they sound amazing BUT Fleebay sell them for only £12.50.
#17

Okay everyone - I will say this only once:

If you see them cheap on eBay or amazon marketplace or playtrade for a lot cheaper than this then they are probably cheaply made copies which look the part but don't perform.

These are legit and therefore a very good deal if you want CX500s... it's also a good deal if you want the CX300s I am told!

The white CX500s sold out in under a day - get these, you won't regret it!
#20
Thanks, ordered. I've have been looking round for some new earphones - never saw the offer for the white ones on here (obviously not spending enough time reading HUKD!)

Just for anyone else who forgot to search:
Thread about the white ones that were one offer HERE
Thread about the CX55's I enquired about HERE

While i'm here. does anyone know about an adaptor to use these on planes? Cheap to buy at the airport?
#21
these are definatley really good headphones, i have cx 300's myself (white love them) but im getting a pair of these for future use, and backup titanium looks pretty slick :P
#22
with the white ones being dropped till stock sold, and the titanium now dropped, it seems play may be selling al lthier cx 500 stock, so i might hold out until the black ones drop, i fancy them going to 19.99 within a week after titanium are gone :)
#23
I've bought about 3 pairs of these phones off eBay, first two were great. But the last pair I got were low quality fakes... so maybe it's time I paid the proper price of a pair!
#24
i have the cx300 which i've used for a year - they're excellent. I just read a review about the poor wire quality on the cx500 (where the wire goes into the volume control). I don't really need a volume control...

Can someone who has both tell me if they are the same except for the volume control?
Also, if they are, how vulnerable does that wire going in feel? Is it likely to break like the Amazon reviewer said?

Cheers

No, don't do this. Otherwise you'll be suffering from tinnitus for the rest of your life.

Also worth checking the local pound shop for cheap headphones in a similar style.
I bought a pair that I used purely for the rubber spares for my better headphones.

If your using in-ear headphones why the hell would you need the volume to go past about 1/3 of the maximum?

Please don't do this, there is a reason that apple cap the maximum volume.

(tip: It's so you don't destroy your ears)
#28
i thought i'd try my luck with ebay and bought a pair of CX500s for about a tenner from a 'power seller' who had sold hundreds of these before, with hundreds of positive reviews and only one negative.

i could tell they were fake the minute i saw the packaging, and having read the ebay articles on how to tell a fake, i am positive i've been swindled. i worry for the hundreds who are unknowingly being swindled (although i might be a happier man if i was one of them right now!). i am now negotiating a refund from this crook.

i know it's been said before, but buying these headphones off ebay or any other online marketplace is a bad idea, and is likely to waste you time and money.

If you've got an iPod classic you'd understand, I don't like my music particularly loud but the cap is absolutely shocking, and at a 1/3 volume even with ear canal buds, whilst you're outside you'd struggle to enjoy any music, seriously.

The cap is rediculous though, I mean they could have put a password protected cap on so parents can set it or something, but I fail to see why as a grown man I should have my volume restricted!

Heat Added. Ive had a pair of CX300's for a couple of years and really impressed with them in all my music players. Looking forward to hearing an improvement with these.

Also - as I found out the other day to my annoyance - Sennheiser will NOT accept the two year warranty if you buy from Ebay (or anywhere that isn't a registered seller), even if it is 100% genuine.

I bought a genuine pair of CX500s for £25-ish, the connection near the jack has gone dodgy and Sennheiser won't touch them. No option but to chuck them in the bin, after only 6 months :(

So basically, don't ever buy these from Ebay, for many reasons...
#33
Like a few others in this thread I have a pair of CX300's which i think are excellent. So good infact that I am very tempted to get these CX500's to see how much of an improvement there is.

Has anyone managed to directly compare the two? If so is there much of a difference?
#34
I'll wait and see if the black version drops in price.

Couldn't see them on the reseller list, unless they trade under a different name. I'd give Sennheiser a call if I were you.
