Yes. 'Specially if you run games in a resolution greater than 1024x768.

Just tried putting a BFG 8800GTS in the basket and that also comes out a few quid cheaper when added...weird!

This appears to be a very slow 1400Mhz card whereas most 8800GT cards are 1800Mhz or 1900Mhz. How much slower that makes it in the real world I am not sure but it sure won't help.

This is not a slow card its very fast and the speeds your talking about are the 512mb versions this is the 256mb version i have the 512mbXFX and its super quick at high resolutions this is meant for smaller monitors with lower resolutions. This is also a premuim make card being XFX you can get factory higher clocked 256mb as with the 512mb but why pay for somthing you can do yourself.

Which browser are you using? I keep Today Only stuff in my basket for 2 or 3 days with no problems usually even if I reboot the computer, although I rarely do that so I’m not sure if that affects it usually. I’m using Opera with XP Pro SP2. I still have the Pioneer DV-600AV from Friday at £81.08 in my basket.

not too sure which browser i was using either ie7 or firefox (i use both)
i also had it in my basket but when i decided to actually buy it (which was saturday i think) went to purchase it and was no longer there

I don’t know how Scan manages their online baskets; sounds like you were just unlucky unless it’s a browser specific thing. Had it expired on the Friday?

This a good deal at £49.34 (in basket)

I know its an old card but the spec if fairly good isn't it for the price?

This is gonna be a seriously fast card UNLESS you are running high resolutions. If that's the case, I would be tempted to say this is false economy. See this review...

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/GeForce-8800-GT-256,review-29841.html

Dunno if Amazon are still doing the Palit 512mb versions (or if indeed they even shipped them), but they were only 10-15 quid dearer.

Of course, if you don't need this kinda muscle, there was a rather good price on an 8600gt I saw earlier today at about 55quid...

I got one of these back when the price was £117 and yes its a good card but its not amazing. Runs a lot slower than the 512 version due to the slow 1400mhz 256 memory which is why price is so low. TBH I would reccomend anyone looking at spending this ammount of money on a dx10 gpu look at the ati 3850 512
#20
For a while I was quite concerned because yesterday I bought a PowerColor ATI 3850 256mb from e-buyer @ £91 ...was just reading a benchmark test of the XFX 8800GT 256mb and apparently it's not as good as a 3850 at stock speeds - apparently this card can be overclocked fairly well though

well it worked for me, although i didnt buy it, i still had it in my basket, when i added a second one, it came up with the higher priced one with different product code.

Bought this but retuned after reading this review, got a 512mb 8800GT instead, seems good if you don'nt run high res screen

Just to let everybody know this is much slower than the standard 8800gt 256mb. THe standard 8800gt has a memory speed og 1800mhz while this one has a memory speed of 1400mhz. i believe it to be same speed as the Ati HD 3850

Save your money on a Ati HD3850. Remember the Ati 3870 is better than the 8800gt 256mb at higher resolutions.
