Though I Fly Through the Valley of Death, I Shall Fear No Evil. For I am at 80,000 Feet and Climbing.?
- SR-71 USAF base (Kadena, Japan)

The setting is 2012. As the era of the nation-state draws quickly to a close, the rules of warfare evolve even more rapidly. More and more nations become increasingly dependent on Private Military Companies (PMCs) ? elite mercenaries with a lax view of the law. The Reykjavik Accords further legitimize their existence by authorizing their right to serve in every aspect of military operations. There goes the neighborhood?

Tom Clancy?s HAWX is the next-gen console game primed to revolutionize the way we think about combat in the sky. Cutting-edge technology, devastating firepower, and intense dogfights award this new title a deserving place in the prestigious Tom Clancy Franchise.

Key Features

E.R.S. is in-game technology that helps turn novice aviators into elite pilots of the future. The Enhanced Reality System is the backbone of your flight experience: radars and incoming missile detection, damage control system, tactical map and information relay, and weapons trajectory control. E.R.S. also allows you to issue orders to your squadron, making this system as iconic to Tom Clancy?s HAWX as the Cross-Com system is to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter!

Want to ease into your flight missions and gain a level of comfort? Turn on the assistance mode and take full advantage of your E.R.S. Need to evade your enemy and execute advanced dog-fighting moves? Switch off the assistance mode and feel the adrenalin rushing through your veins as you play in stunning 3rd person views.

For the first time ever in the Air Combat genre, experience the entire solo campaign in 4 player JUMP IN coop mode In PVP mode, challenge your friends in intense dog-fighting sessions and see who the top gun is.

Take the throttle of over sixty of the world?s most famous aircrafts. Dogfight over the most realistic and modern landscapes as the elite pilot of tomorrow.

Good price but a really poor game after all the hype.

I only tried the demo but it seemed reasonable enough to me.

Admittedly, it was rather hard to gage with the broken joystick deadzones but everything else seemed in order.

Played the demo and loved it, been after this game for ages. Super hot deal.

Also Yahtzee likes it, and as a rule of thumb I buy the games he likes. Call me crazy!

Unfortunately have to agree - bought it at this price from thehut (same company?) and been really disappointed with it. It all feels like a fairly cheap, arcadey version of Ace Combat (which itself is an arcadey game) as this dual gameplay system seems poorly thought out, when you are in conventional mode controlling the plane as normal your plane is 'locked down' which means it turns slowly, won't stall etc. When you switch to the 'free mode' where you can properly control the plane and stall it pulling off crazy moves the camera bizarrely changes to a replay style camera where it's hard to work out what the plane is doing or where it's going.

Ace Combat is also a very arcadey game however if you switch to the advanced control scheme you always have proper control of your plane allowing you to pull off stupidly fast flicks but the plane would still stall if too much airspeed was lost or running too high when AWACs hunting. Closer to the ground if the plane wasn't in its normal position it would lose height which could be fatal when trying to pull back out of a low flying stunt.

The battles themselves seem somewhat lacking again in comparison to Ace Combat which just filled the skies and ground with enemies making the combat incredibly frantic. Hawx seems pretty basic in comparison. I'm a good few missions into the game but the pace and variety of objectives hasn't really picked up.

The worst part though is how buggy it is, I couldn't even get past the start screen due to the game freezing until I went online and found the workaround to sign out in he dashboard then sign back in at the start screen which is a total joke.

i thought it was v.good - much better than Ace Combat 6 - that was utter crap.
good price - worth buying?
