The horrific nuclear conflict in the Middle East not only killed millions, it also crippled the world's fuel supply. With oil from that part of the world no longer available, crude oil prices skyrocket to $800 a barrel. The vast Russian landmass now holds the largest accessible reserves of fossil fuels, making Russia the world's primary supplier of energy virtually overnight. With the massive economic boom it receives, Russia quickly re-establishes itself as a superpower and restores her military might. In response most of Western Europe unifies to create the European Federation, a new nation destined to be a formidable 21st-century superpower. But things are also changing across the pond. In 2020, the United States is on the verge of finishing construction on the Freedom Star, a controversial orbital military platform that will upset the balance of world power. The European Federation withdraws from NATO in protest. Tensions between the European Federation, the United States, and Russia are building and will soon reach the breaking point. The EndWar is about to begin. Which side will you fight on?

The European Enforcer Corp
The European Federation is a new superpower, founded in 2018 to consolidate political and economic power in the face of the world energy crisis and accelerating security and environmental concerns around the globe. Though publicized as an evolution of the European Union, demanding admission criteria disenfranchised all but the wealthiest nations of Europe. The UK and Ireland declined membership (instead joining the New Commonwealth), as did Switzerland (fiercely neutral as always).Consummate professionals, the European Federation Enforcer Corps is made up of veteran elite counter-terrorist and peacekeeping forces from throughout Europe. Calm and precise, these highly-trained and experienced soldiers are especially skilled in urban warfare. They excel in electronic warfare as well as advanced directed energy weapons technology, and have the fastest battlefield vehicles. The Enforcer Corps also have access to the world's best "less than lethal" weaponry.

The United States Joint Strike Force
Once strong allies with Europe, the U.S. has broken ranks following the dissolution of NATO and the formation of the European Federation. The two superpowers are now locked in a costly and controversial military space race. This rivalry builds to a crescendo when the U.S. prepares to launch the Freedom Star, a huge military space station that Europe suspects could be used to neutralize its missile shield satellites. An evolution of today's Marine Expeditionary Units, the Joint Strike Force is known for their integration of air and ground combat capabilities. Epitomizing the saying, 'high speed, low drag,' these elite soldiers excel in precision firepower and can rapidly deploy anywhere in the world. Moreover, their stealth technology and the accuracy of their weapons are second-to-none.

The Russian Spetsnaz Guard Brigades
The world's number one supplier of oil and natural gas since the 2016 nuclear war in the Middle East, Russia has experienced an economic boom of epic proportions. It has used its newfound riches to build up its military to levels beyond the Cold War and is once again a true superpower in the world arena. Soldier for soldier, no force on the planet can match the Spetsnaz Guard Brigades in terms of raw, brute force. Hardened veterans of Russia's many regional conflicts, these troopers are a highly effective, determined, and deadly force. The Spetsnaz tend to focus on heavy weapons and heavy armor, and often ingeniously modify standard-issue equipment to suit their needs, resulting in vehicles bristling with bolted-on weaponry the original designer never dreamed of including.

There's a demo up on the 360 marketplace for this game. I didnt like it, even though I love the C&C games. Still a good price though

marmite scenario perhaps, I loved it...thought it was a clever idea and if the zones get bigger and enemies get harder this could be truly spectacular

Really? Did that come up today? I've been waitin for it. Looks a good game, but I bet it'll suck! The idea of a voice command system is intreaguing, I played that SOCOM a few years ago I assume it's similar? Do you just tell people what to do, or do you control a soldier as well like in Ghost Recon etc?

yh its been on over a week now

its more like command and conquer style...with a much closer view

basically each unti has a number...as do the enemy...so the voice commmands (and there are loads!) need to identify each unit...action....location

example

UNIT 1 ATTACK HOSTILE 3
UNIT 5 MOVE TO SIERRA
UNIT 3 SECURE BRAVO
UNIT 7 RETREAT

There are many more though and you have to think tactically. Plus you only start with so many units...as you get 'command points' you unlock more units and they are air dropped in, so you have to pick the right weaponry for the level...so I got slaughtered for just taking helicopters....you really have to keep an eye on what your doing

the actual demo level is way too easy so play it once, then go to Skirmish, thats much better

Am assuming this one is going to be a US version?

The demo shows just how good the voice recognition is after about only 5 mins of training just all voice commands can be used if preferred and it makes the game 100% console playable without having to have 100s of keys,
Great graphics and gameplay to.

So you can play it entirely without pressing any buttons at all? That Sounds cool, and means I can eat my dinner at the same time!
I will have to train it with a mouthful of food :)

well...no....

you just keep your finger on the right trigger all the time...you do need the controller for a few things (switching the view to a different unit and moving to random locations) but its not controller orientated....therefore all main orders are done via headset...

controler can be used as well but that takes the point away

Wasn't aware there was a demo, will give it a go later and make a judgement.

did you play the demo or the Skirmish mode?
#14
i think both... the demo is the one that stops after you kill everyone yeah?

And the skirmish is the one that you can go online with? except there was no one else on there when i played so went with the 1 player option.

What's the difference between them?

the demo can be done in like a minute...the skirmish is much bigger and shows the potential...if you just go kill the enemy straight away it is rubbish...if you position your units it lets the enemy build up a bit and start securing areas, then its much more tactical...picking the right units for the mission etc
#16
yeah that's the one... i did the demo and then moved onto the skirmish.. i just got a bit bored with saying "team x attack hostile x " "team x retreat" team x move to x". I'll give it another go tonight and see if it gets any more fun.

out of interest do you like tactical games? like C&C etc?

Have a feeling this wont have the same fun as C&C and will be more serious, but I like that idea

I used to play C&C on the PC years ago and remeber enjoying it.
Maybe i'm too used to the 360 now, and being more involved with the games, rather than RTS type's.

see I was big on them on PC, but not on console...the transition just doesnt work for me...but I think this is the first RTS purely based on console playability, you just dont have the key selection on a console to what you do on a PC..used to setup waypoints, asssign groups etc, but its just too fiddly on a console to do that...
this removes that problem as far as I can see, you can still use the controller to do things but its mostly the voice commands...but by using both voice and controller you can do multiple things at once, just like you can on PC RTS...
Ok...it may be pants in the end which will be bad but this has the potential to be a great game

I'll be renting it from Lovefilm rather than buying it, that's for sure.
Now, COD5 is another matter, that has better be as good (if not better) than 4, despite what people are saying about it.

tbh I'm prob not gonna get CoD5...the beta is pants...not just the probs but its just no fun compared to 4..plus the Dogs idea is awful!
will wait for the reviews to come in

Plus I have got fed up of WW2 games, no originality in them anymore I think people will carry on with CoD4...willing to bet they will bring out new maps for it too

Still say it should of been Nam...nice mix of old and new weapons, same sort of setting as pacific and you could have Hueys with twin gunners to snipe rather than the cod4 chopper
