You're welcome, thanks for the heat :)

What's the difference (apart from price LOL) between the 510 and the 520 mentioned on another thread. Trying to work out if its hardware or software or both?

Thanks

Good find Cat :)

oredered mine for the wife after getting grief about compicated solar GPS and pda tomtom usage... the usual: "why cant we just have stuff that is in one box and works..."

Googling at the mo to find out the exact same thing - so far there has been mention that the 520 is much slimmer, lasts longer with battery and has 4.3" screen as opposed to the 4" of the 510 .

Not confirmed anything yet so if someone knows please tell, thanks!

That's pretty much the reason I'm looking as I have tomtom on my pda with a separate tomtom gps puck and the missus doesn;t like having to go through loading tomtom, then pairing up the gps device and then getting on with doing the satnav LOL.

You need to make sure you get the latest version of the RDS-TMC aerial:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-9V00-017-RDS-TMC-Receiver/dp/B000W3H2A6/

was £29.99 in Feb this year.

earlier versions hardly ever picked up the signal.

This is 2 generations out of date and yes it it is massive at the back compared to the 520 i got for my dad. However it is updateable to the latest software and maps, you might have to do some googling for that though. I'd say it's a better buy than a one.

Does anyone know if this take memory card at all.
#13
Could anybody explain what is required to get full European maps (Eastern too, preferably) on these GPS sets, out of the box...?

I wouldn't bother with this to be honest. It's very bulky compared to the current models.

Also the Go 530 has just been released, you're better off picking up a discounted 520 as the x30 series become widely available.

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/435555 for £160 with code: TOM4 and possible quidco?
#18
Heat given just bought one. Have Europe maps on SD card too.

Well, I'd actually prefer the 510 over the 520 because of the screen 'plunger'. I've found that the one on the 520 is poor, and only a push sucker, but the one on the 510 has an arm that you twist to make a better vacuum hence it's less likely to drop off the window.

That's before VAT added unless I am mistaken.

try spiting on screen before using push sucker :p :w00t:

Superb price...

It's a good deal but not that hot imho! This is 2 generations old, as someone said earlier with the 530 out, the slim 520 is going to get cheaper.

I have no idea what so ever why this deal is so hot. Its 2 years out of date!

Nope, brand new.
Yes maybe a slightly out dated model but whats a better alternative for £104 after Quidco?

Anyone any idea how long bargain crazy take to deliver?? - not the best of websites and no email confirmation for shipping yet.
#30
Having read some online reviews they reckon small items can arrive within a couple of days. Site says 7-10 working days but I dont think they send an email saying its been shipped. Fingers crossed mine arrives today as I'm driving to Wembley tomorrow for the FA Cup Final!
#31
Mine just turned up!!

Now - who knows how to mod it to the latest firmware etc??
#32
was half tempted to post this again because the price has come down to £107 and with the discount and delivery taken into consideration it comes to a total of £100.25 delivered, just a heads up for anyone. it's there 'deal of the day' so i guess it's not going to last long. didn't post again because of the brigade of people who would've probably said it's been posted previously

Mine too!
Just whacked in my europe maps from a tom tom I borrowed off a mate (bought them for like 9.99) and it worked first time.
The road to Wembley just got easier!
#34
Already got most of Europe on it - or mine has.
#35
Just the major European roads - for more detail you have to upgrade the maps.
#36
I got my Tom Tom delivered, it worked when I switched it on, and then the next day wouldn't start up!

Customer services have told me that they were sent a faulty batch so its no longer available.
