Apologies for wrong picture.

Do not no much about satnavs but thats a good find and the price is decent also. I had posted MyGuide satnav yesterday which was at £37 from Asda.

Probably theres big difference between them. Anyone know which is better. I have been told MyGuide can be changed so it acts like a tomtom.

and many thanks nicksinghuk for the correct one! Have some rep.

You can put Tomtom on just about any satnav hardware, thing is you need to get a copy of the software (i.e dodgy download)

It's also not always easy to do (no matter what certain geeks in here will tell you) and you can get problems with screen resolution & suchlike, not to mention voiding your warranty...

It can be fun to do if you're that way inclined but unless you're confident screwing about with your units guts you should steer clear.

I'm quite computer literate but it really was simpler than some people make out. Just copy and paste, enter a code, done.

So is this purely for the software? No device included??
#12

If the price difference is £37 to £50 = £13, I'd definately go for the TomTom One.

But if you have to pay full price for the TomTom (about £90), I'd get the Myguide and spend a couple of hours and put another navigator on (doesn't have to be a "dodgy" TomTom. You can purchase others and sometimes get them for free).

Don't get the TomTom Start. It doesn't give you as much navigation as the TomTom One.

What's the difference with this version of tom toms and the other ones? does this one take you the wrong way a few times first? :D

UK & Ireland only - not Europe. Still a good deal if you don't venture far

Thanks for clarifying.

It's just when you said "3 copies left" and then someone else said "Just copy and paste, enter a code, done" which is what you do when you upgrade the software so I thought it was the software only.

I take it this is store specific and not nationwide? As it's on manager's special?

That's correct. Some navigators take you very strange routes. It is all about updating the maps. If you buy a cheap navigator with say Turbodog 6, you'll get maps from Q1 2009. With any good brand you get the latest maps and also better voice turn instructions, updated speedcameras, and sometimes also TTS (text-to-speech) which tells you the road name you turn into (e.g. turn right into Wood Lane). Most cheaper models only tell you "turn right" or "turn left".

good deal.

This again is a "manager's special" like your other post (IOMEGA external drive)?

Can confirm the v3 definitely has no memory card slot - it was released to pre-empt the pirating of maps and other upgrades you would normally have to purchase from them.....

I thought that was the case as I've got the v2, I remember toying with the v3 as an upgrade till I read it had no SD slot, thought I'd better check as it was a long time ago and found a spec listing an SD slot so promptly corrected my post, or so I thought

Posted with good intentions bud, sorry for adding to the confusion

None in any of my local tesco's and I've tried several.

Surley the idea of this site is to give the heads up on hot deals so others can benefit, so what is the point of posting a deal when there aren't any stock available. Pointless!!

I'm sure some of you folk make these deals up!

Should be cold as ice!!:?

Well I got one this morning  Just lucky, hadn't actually seen this post at that time. Picked up several other bargains in the managers special aisle too.

I live in edinburgh and could have benefit from the deal (but didnt as I dont need it) - so its definitely a deal.

There are loads of deals listed in shops who have no presence all over the country - should they be banned too ?
#35
none in wisbech

How many people have actually bought this? And manager's specials are just that, very local and that store clearing up old stock. Why is this hot like so? They'll be less than 10 in the whole country probably.

Download Tom Tom home and install, connect your Tom Tom and check for map updates. You'll have to pay for maps this way. If you don't want to then there's sites such as gpsundergound that might have some help.
