Nominated for two Academy Awards
Enfant terrible Ken Russell and the 70's supergroup The Who combine forces to memorable excess in this 1975 screen version of Pete Townshend's now classic rock opera.
Roger Daltrey plays Tommy Walker, a deaf, dumb and blind kid who sure can play a mean pinball!
Tommy who was blinded by a childhood trauma, finds fame through encounters with such outrageous characters as The Pinball Wizard, and The Acid Queen. As Tommy grows up he finds salvation both as a master pinball player and as a cult religious figure.
The Who are joined by Eric Clapton, Elton John and Tina Turner, with appearances by Jack Nicolson and Ann-Margret in an over the top musical and drama, which, due to the extravagance in both direction and cinematography has become a cult classic.
