on amazon it's £165 not £168 as posted
#3
Its gone down by £3 pounds overnight
#4
Is the hands free phone feature any good? Would save a few quid on installing a dedicated hands free kit?
#5
Can the iPod feature that is on the TomTom 520 Music be used on the 520 Traffic? I know that you can purchase the iPod cable separately , but is it a software feature of the 520 Music sat nav only?
#6
If the case is not available the next best deal is.
DIXONS

Great deal - Cheers! With my warped way of thinking, I'm effectively getting the 520 for £144 (£165 - £10 (iPod voucher) - £11 (case)). I also went through the Nectar site, so I get Nectar points too :)

HOT! I have it on order, many many thanks:-D:thumbsup::santa:

I have the 910 music edition & you do have to use the microphone for the other party to hear you clearly.
Other than that it is very good

Great price - Wish it had come up sooner - just bought the 520 traffic from halfords + the carry case for £240 last Wednesday - think I can get a refund?
#11
Just got this from Halfords web site

Methods of return are as follows:
To a Halfords Store
The easiest and quickest way to return your item or items is to take them to your local Halfords store for a
replacement or refund along with your copy invoice as proof of purchase. Unfortunately, Halfords stores are
not able to accept returns for products delivered direct from the manufacturer, Gift Vouchers, Driver Safety
Aids, Nitro Cars, Made to Measure items, items cut to length or Parking Sensors.
Please note: Satellite Navigation systems/units also CANNOT be returned to stores unless they
are returned complete in all their original packaging, with ALL security seals still intact.
Items returned without proof of purchase may only be exchanged at the Store Manager's discretion.
For details of your nearest store, please visit our Store Locator or telephone 08457 626625.

If you buy by mail order, you are entitled to a seven-day cooling off period. No reason needed for return. What the seven day counts down from is another question.
#17
Thanks ordered it Sunday from amazon as a replacement for my aged TT3 on HP4150. Which will be going on ebay soon.

The cable is only a fiver at ebuyer. According to them:

[LIST]
[*]If you have a Go 520 or Go 720 you can play the music through your car stereo using the built in FM Transmitter, but
[*]The iPod Connect Cable cannot be used at the same time as the TomTom RDS-TMCTraffic Receiver, which uses the same connector.

In the terms & conditions for getting the Free Carry Case, it states offer ends 31st of December so surely its out of date now ?

I've found the same TomTom Go 520 Music Edition for £159 at ebuyer and im pretty sure its free delivery as I think its if you spend over £50 you get free delivery.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135587

Amazon will likely drop the price to match ebuyer so if you can still get the carry case keep an eye out for a price drop by amazon :)

£15 more gets you the 720 from Dixons - which looks to be a much better unit....
#23
720 only has different maps so 520 for UK use is fine

In what ways is it much better? I have looked at the comparison on their site and can only see that you get maps of Western Europe on the 720 over the 520. Is there something else significant?
#25
No free case anymore and cheaper with ebuyer
#26
Tom Tom 520 traffic is £179 at Dixons and Halfords (via codes)

Only £15 more for something which usually costs £50 more.

Good deal if you dont need the Ipod cable (worth a fiver) or the Itunes voucher.

Note: the 720 is the same as the 520 but with maps of Western Europe.

I personally went for the dixons and currys deal for the tomtom 720 TRAFFIC edition at £205 !!

this will give TMS and the cable so helps when travelling it would point out you have traffic on the route you re taking and give you alternatives.

I had used my tomtom one without traffic ended up on the m1 with 3 junctions full of traffic. Ok the m1 aint the greatest place as you do get this kind of traffic but it cud hav pointed me to get on the a43 to m40 to get to where i wanted which it never did and did not recognise TRAFFIC.

People you should get a sat nav with traffic info whatever one u do go for very helpful!! RAC do their own sat nav i hear!!

The ipod cable is a really good idea as the radio transmitter inside works very well, but does anyone know if you can get a non-ipod cable anywhere to use with any other mp3 player?? :?

The 520 Music comes with another cable to attach to a normal MP3.
(obviously it wont be able to pause the music or offer any control functions like the ipod lead)

I think the Ipod cable pack which someone said you could get at eBuyer for a fiver also has this cable.

It looks like a normal 3.5 headphone to headphone lead to be honest.
So maybe a look in Maplin or somewhere can get you them for peanuts too,

Amazon have dropped this to £159.99 now (although it's out of stock, you can still order it).

Will we automatically get it for this reduced price, even though we ordered at £165 (mine is still waiting to be shipped)? Don't Amazon offer a price promise?
#32
I just got £5.01 refunded from amazon because of the price drop.
Go to your account settings and send them an email under returns and refunds only takes a couple of minutes, to get yourself an extra fiver.(i added this link aswell)
