No that is a FAR cheaper model, This is comes with all the extra maps, has many extra features and has memory expantion (wich means you can add extra maps ie:- Australia without having to get rid of your other maps.

This looked a great price but looks like it don't come with the 1 years Live service

I have just brought it and it comes with 1 year free AFTER THAT you'll need to subscribe (that the same with all tomtoms that come with live traffic I think)

If you read the descriptions, one has North America, one doesn't - it is up to you which is better for your needs.

Well that replaces the tomtom go 750 HD, it has most of the features of this one but does not come with the USA or CANADA maps and also cannot be patched to add new features like this one can

Thanks, have reserved, will double check when I pick it up.

I've got this one and paid £299 only a year ago. Use it in the US alot. You can't use the live services there though. Agree with louthefirst2 that this far superior than the XL Live. HOT!
#12
I just got the TomTom 950 last week with this deal from Argos. I can confirm that it comes with the 12 months live services (worth £47.50) as it had the sticker on the box. I've not opened it yet but apparently you have to turn it on and then click the option to activate the 12 months service.

It also has the guaranteed latest maps within 30 days of turning it on too! And also a microsd slot to store new maps etc.

Have some heat - well impressed it also has USA maps - will come in handy when in Orlando!

No.

I still use my 720 which has IQ routes etc but this is an absolute bargain. Very tempted.

Excellent spot.
#16

The 2 year map update service for £29 is a bargain too.
#17
its £50 from tomtom though so not really half price.

If you only need UK maps I think the amazon tomtom via live 120 (the new one) is £152 but you can redeem £20 cashback from tomtom making it £130.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-VIA-LIVE-120-UK/dp/B0048BPRIM/

it uses the newer interface, and traffic updates take place quicker, however suction cup it part of the unit and cannot be detached can be seen as a drawback.
#18
Thanks reserved, looks like a great price for a high spec Sat Nav.

DownHill911

But this doesn't have Europe, USA or Canada maps! And it also doesn't have an (micro)SD card slot for content upgrades!
#21
absolute bargin
I have this unit and its brilliant, just using it in the states now. Had mine for 15 months now and dont regreat it one bit.
#22
go 1000 worth considering if you just want UK maps. i think its a newer model..it has a magnetic mount which sounds cool..there have been reported problems with the mounts, personally ive not had a problem with my go 910.

just ordered picking up tomorrow, last one in Glasgow, nice one been looking for a while thanks for the heads up, looks like a better option than the 1000 series Thanks Ray

I bought the Live IQ XL last may and it's crap.

I had a 510, upgraded to europe, added TTS etc via some info on the web. All good but maps getting old so I bought the XL Live

It's terrible, soooooo sloooooow to respond, soooo sloooow to calcualte routes no TTS etc.

The Go series have more memory and a faster CPU (please correct me if im wrong), offer all the facilities, and at this price its a bargain. I just bought 2 years of upgrades on the halfords half price voucher or I'd have grabbed one of these in a breath

Don't second guess it, they are good units!

I have a Tomtom but to be honest I tend to use it very rarely now as Google Navigation on my Android in most cases seems to do a better job, plus its always with me!
#28
Plenty o f choices on amazon almost at the same price:

Ive got the old go 910 (20gb internal hard drive, UK, Europe & North America maps included, bluetooth, ebook reader & mp3) and have not touched it once since ive downloaded the Europe version of tomtom for my iphone. But i have to say, this is a good price for what you're getting, compared to other standalone nav systems on the market, but i dont understand the advantages of a stand alone unit in this day and age against using it on your phone.

I agree entirely. Have always used TomTom and they are excellent, but they are going to get squeezed massively with the onset of smart phones running Android. Only use my TomTom now when I am abroad.

This is an old model. Why get hung up on how many maps it has ? The vast majority never leave the uk !

I bought an Xl live Europe for £104 Inc delivery which does more than most will ever need. Sd card expansion is only needed if you plan on driving in lots of different parts of the world, the mount On these is clumsy and the Bluetooth hands free useless don't think it's a bargain if you're buying features you don't need.
#33
Damn again a lot of very good deal but no stock near me

A word of warning on the new VIA and 1000 series.

They are not like the old tomtom's. The new models have a closed / locked system. You can not add or replace maps, pois, speedcams etc.

I guess it was designed this way due to all the maps floating around on download sites, the old system was so easy the manipulate, tomtom must have been losing a fortune.

Many users are reporting major issues, as it is a closed system you can not backup and restore, or maintain it yourself, if there is a problem it has to go back to tomtom.

Right now I would say this deal is the best option and the best tomtom now.

I would recommend this, I have the 940 (previous model) and its fantastic. The 950 used to come with 3 months free live services, which starts when you activate the unit by connecting it to your computer, tomtom have now extended this to 12 months, so regardless of what it says on box you get 12 months, also dont forget to use your latest map guarantee in the box which gives you the most upto date map free within 30 days of activation. Live services cards were in halfords, which you could use with the 1/2 price code, i got 12 months for £23 or something?
Bluetooth works well even with iphone etc.
You dont need the rds tmc reciever with it as it gets HD traffic direct to sim card inside the unit wqhich is what the live services cover, also premium speed cams, and cheapest fuel prices so can halp save you money. Buy it!

Have heard all the reports re new TT's. I have always supported TT as I think they have had the best devices and not as good as the Garmins we use at work. They will lose out now anyway as other devices have come along such as android/i-phone etc. so if they want to release devices such as the 1000 and expect the buyers to be beta testers then they can shove their products from now on. I think my 720 upgraded to a 730 remains one of the best, I also use the latest One for work (rather than the garmin) and that is good... this 950 is tempting.
