Can it help me find the way to Amarillo? I'm thinking of a weekend away! have some H+R

Do TomTom ACTUALLY let you update this to include Advanced Lane Guidance and IQ Routes though?

If not, cold IMO since the 530 is only £160 @ ebuyer.

If that's the case then this is hot. :)

I also heard that the TomTom ONE V3/V4 can be hacked to run the 530 software (but not through TomTom HOME - takes a lot more work than that ;-))

I'm in the market for a sat nav at the moment, I guess I'm going to see how much lower the prices on the likes of this one get - Argos etc still have it at a ridiculous price so there's a fair bit of stock around. Might even just settle for a ONE V3 if it gets any cheaper (£88 is the cheapest I've seen so far but they went as low as £69 when the V4 came out). Don't think anyone expected TomTom to repackage their old stock as "ONE Classic" though. ;-)

Yes you can run x30 series software on x20, i did this on 520 720 920, but you need do this not via tthome

I take it lane guidance and IQ routes can only be done via piracy? The icons for lane guidance remain greyed out on my unit.

I got my 520 got Bargaincrazy.com for £103 recently, so this is a bit pricey :whistling:

I have the navcore 8 running on a ONE v2, it's very easy all you need is the cab file for the software stick it on your tomtom, unplug turn off and on and it will flash itself.

yes, I bought the 720 yesterday and have upgraded it all legally from the tomtom home software, check for Publicnme's newer deal post

You have to make sure you upgrade navcore to 8.3 first, without updating any maps.

Then when at vers 8.300 use the map guarantee and you should get version 8.15 maps including IQ routing 24/7 which has just been released.

If you have already used you map guarantee you'll have to pay fro 8.15 (or the subscription service which is generally better value for money).

Please make sure you use windows explorer to backup tthe unit to a folder on your PC BEFORE you start upgrading anything

It's all legit, then it's the same as a 530 except it's silver not black.

Gah so tempted to get this instead of the TomTom 920T for £200 at PCWorld (aka £180 with staff discount).

You need to update the map: lane guidance and iq routes are only on the latest v8 maps.

When I got my 520 two months ago, I first downloaded the new TOmTOm software via TomTom home. Icons for lane guidance and IQ routes were greyed out.

Then downloaded latest map (free within one month after first use) and lane guidance and iq routes works fine now.

SO yes, full functionality of the 530!!!

I got the 530 from Halfords the other day as my 520 was stolen.

Got the 530 for £179.99, and recieved a £20 voucher... and also another £10 voucher becuase halfords running a promo where if you spend over £50 on a certain products range they give you £10 voucher.

So all in all i got the 530 for £150. I got the tom tom case with the voucher, its well worth it. You need to protect these things.

according to this ebuyer are still doing free delivery on orders over £49.99http://www.ebuyer.com/special/1293?eblt=delivery

Good explanation...!!! and correct.

Previously though you had to use cracked software, Before V8 maps were released.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading a TomTom One though as the internals don't cope as well with all the added features of Navcore 8 for x20/x30/x40 range.

Going to ask something slightly teccy here. I got my dad a 520 a 8 months ago and updated to software version 8.3. because of the old maps lane guidance is greyed out.

Now a friend of mine has boughr a 520 brand new, if i can completely update his legally to a 530 clone because of the newest map thing within a month, can i transfer the map over onto my dads one. Is it just the cline.dat file or is there some other bits?

Rep for replying and rep for Lorian!

Nope

1. It's the whole Map folder you need.
2. The map would need activating on another device which is legally done automatically via TomTom Home when you download and install the map.

You could copy the map folder over and activate it illegally but can't discuss it here.

I can recommend this website though :http://www.ipmart-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=382
