Good Deal, I have the same V4 TomTom and its spot on!

The mounting clip that comes with it is a vast improvement over older versions! Only down side on this version is there is no SD card slot so no expansion to hold the larger maps (USA and so on)

Hi - Advise please! am looking for a sat nav as a Christmas present but this is about the max I want to spend. Have been told Tom Toms are very good but need one that they will be able to add on Europe and use in France. Is this one UK only. Would they not be able to add on europe with this Tom Tom. Thanks in advance for any response.

I have this version and was able to add the map's for France onto it - on TomTom market place (http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/) you can buy France Map's only - I was able to fit both France and UK maps on at the same time, and it worked fine in both countries! Mine is the 512mb version of the tomtom one V4. The france map is 252.5 Mb. You wont however fit the Europe map pack onto the device unless you get the 1GB version - which I dont think this is! (Europe maps are 875 mb- includes uk though)

sorry if it is a basic question, but how does the map updating work? in the sense that do you have to pay extra for that or is it free map updates?

You get map share for free.

Basically, map share updates are ones that tomtom users have made themselves. These are normally things like speed limit changes, or changes to one way systems.

What you dont get for free is the official tomtom updates. These updates include things like new roads.

However, I think (not 100% sure) that when you buy a new tomtom you are given a code that allows you to download the very latest version of the tomtom map. This ensures that you dont buy a machine that is out of date

are you sure 5% rac code works?
#11
No the 5% RAC won't work as it does not include electrical items and only 0.5% Quidco. Still great deal though!

So so. I bought my TomTom V4 with free roadside assistance for £70 almost 10 months ago....

How does this compare to the TomTom 520 or 530 say?

I'm completely bewildered by the TomTom ranges and I can't find an easy way to choose between them. Little help?

[QUOTE=bill888]I got mine with free roadside recovery from Sainsburys last Easter for £50.

Other than expressing the buyers smugness, these kind of comments are absolutely no use to anyone. Do they want a badge or something?

Dont be put off by the big range and the different product codes. If your basic need is to get from A to B then they all do the same job - and very well too. I had no interest in them until recently when my job started to involve a lot of travel, and I just plumped for the cheapest one I could find at the time (XL from Play). It's been brilliant and probably paid for itself a few times over.
