This is the cheapest price for XL model, I guess..

For comparison between models. No Bluteooth hands free on this one.
#4
I have the power!!! to heat it up. Good deal
#5
it is a good price, i got mine from currys 99 pence cheaper though the other month.

it is way better than my old pda and if your other half is as useless as mine at map reading ( she points out the junction i need after i have gone past it on the motor way), it is a must.
#6
But like for like comapred to Garmin and other brands how does this rate?
#7
Reading here it does have Bluetooth

These Sat Navs will be common as muck soon. Just like Mobile phones, they will be cheap as chips soon. I cry when i think I paid over £250 for my tom tom one a year ago :(
#13
I am hearing all sorts of stories that these are the most hot item to get nicked out of cars right now. Even if you leave the mount on view they think you have it in the car?
#14
Well thats done it I have bought one now. It says it has Bluetooth but can you use it for handsfree with your mobile?
#15
Hambrook,

See this review and it confirm that the bluetooth is only used for data, therefore no handsfree...

YourNav
Just like it's little brother, this ONE XL remains a basic no-nonsense navigational solution. So don't expect any text-to-speech, hands free calling, MP3 playing of photo viewing.

When TomTom called this one the XL they really meant it...

indeed it was about 1 year ago at least when it was the big story, people using those electic wire detectors which cost about 10 quid and scanning the boots of cars for laptops and sat nav systems as they create an electric field.

the simple thing is take it out, the xl is rather slim, infact there is not too much difference between it and my pda.

not getting one incase your car gets done in it is like saying you wouldnt get a new phone because it is the most popular thing nowdays for your dirty little street robber.
#21
hold off for the 17th when the Tesco direct book comes out because im sure i seen it today for this price aswell.

Ill check on this tomorrow morning

we all got our books early hehe
#22
has this one got itinerary planning as the new v3 one does not.

Don't forget sign up for the DVD service £3.99 for two rentals and get £15.00 discount, no minimum contract on rentals so cancel after a month and tomtom xl comes in at £138.98

Yes the original comment that I quoted appeared to suggest this was a cold deal because it might get nicked!

I have a small car safe that is bolted to the car in the boot.

i know it isnt part of this deal but where did you get the safe from, how much was it and was it easy to install?

sounds a great idea.
#26
too many people leave these in the glove compartments and all it takes is a hammer and a screwdriver. the mounts being left out are unbelivable signs there's a tomtom in there

as a doorman i usually get ppl comin back askin to contact the police as their cars been broken into

I am hearing all sorts of stories that these are the most hot item to get nicked out of cars right now. Even if you leave the mount on view they think you have it in the car?

A friend parked their car Monday night outside their house in a leafy suburb in West Yorkshire, went to bed, car windows smashed and alarm went off at 1:30am. They saw a kid running down the street from the bedroom window. They left the mount in place, the kid broke in looking for the TomTom, fortunately this was in the house.

TIP 1: Remove your mount when parked.
TIP 2: Remove your mount and TomTom before reaching your destination if it is a public place, eg supermarket car park. That way, no one can see you taking it off and putting it in the glove box.

so if they nick your car instead at least the contents of the safe will still be secure ...... hmmm , thats a great idea

TIP 3: Set the "Home" setting on your sat-nav device to somewhere near your home, a location where you can still navigate to your house without the aid of the device. That way, if a thief breaks into your car and steals it (the car as well as the contents) they won't know where you live... and such can't burgle your potentially empty house.**

Firstly i'd like to say a big hello. Always frequent this site, but found some cool stuff of late. Decided to join up and join the banter. Thanks everyone.

Does this TomTom differ much from the v2 that was about lately?

The TomTom Onev2 is suppose to be better than the v3.

Just wondered if it's worth getting this, or tracking down a v2? :)

Any advice be great.
#37
:p Just what I was looking for thankyou

I've signed up for the dvd rental to get the £15 off - what do I have to do now - how soon is the first payment?

Any help would be appreciated

This XL on offer here at Amazon is essentially just the v2 but with a bigger screen. Read this review...

http://www.yournav.com/content/review/326/

Tomtom has so far not released a v3 version of the XL yet. When they do, you'll be able to tell by the lack of an SD card slot at the bottom :)

Cheers.

Just found the normal V2 on there. Not sure! Oh decisions!
