Well spotted i suspect this is the lowest price at this moment in time voted Hot!!!
#2
Good price for the Euro version. Voted hot!
#3
Why cold, thats a great price ?
#4
Well if someone's voted cold, they clearly know where you can get one of these cheaper. Come on whoever it was, where can you get these?
#5
I thought these had been recalled? Summat to do with England not being found anywhere in Europe now ;-) (Writes Mike, a Scot)
#6
I,ve spotted this offer before; last week at a price of around £140. If I'm right it's billed as a europe edition but reading down the specs it only has UK & Ireland maps, (It does list the number of languages it has in it but not maps) Anyone else agree??

From the specification:-

"Latest TomTom ONE - Europe"

"TomTom ONE comes with the latest western european maps. With TomTom ONE, everyONE can find their way from A to B!"

"Full door-to-door navigation anywhere in Western Europe"

"The latest TeleAtlas maps of Western Europe with Latest map guarantee Comprehensive trip guidance features Extensive industry leading range of safety features Optional traffic information and other smart extras"

From the Amazon discussion forum:-

"Amazon's details are wrong. I just received mine and it does include maps of Western Europe. I haven't turned it on yet, but it says so on the box.
Also, if you go to the tomtom product page for this item, it'll show you the maps included in this product
http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=394"

"I can confirm that you do get all the maps for Western Europe. I received mine last week. Works great."

Therefore I think that we can assume that the maps for Western Europe are included?
If they aren't, the unit will be returned.

I think I've seen theTomtom One Europe with bluetooth and this one doesn't have bluetooth? If this is right is it better to get one with? I'm a bit confused and not sure what the bluetooth does!

there is no tomtom one with bluetooth, the ones you are refering to, are the 520 and 720 models, also if you have bluetooth on your phone it means you can use the 520/720 as a handsfree kit for in the car.
*edit* just noticed in the picture above it is displayed with a mains charger and a leather pouch, neither of these come with the item and are extras (just to avoid any confusion)

Yes there is, the ONE v2 models have bluetooth and an SD card slot.
#15
I'm pretty sure I've seen the V3 model with bluetooth too.
#16
:?: A couple of questions :-

Can anyone provide a list of the countries covered please?

Can other countries be added e.g. eastern Europe?
#17
the picture is taken from amazons description.
#18
Trouble is as you go up in models some great additional features are added.
At £230 the average TomTom has a larger screen, is slimline, has bluetooth handfree phone handling, an mp3 player which sends to your radio wirelessly and speech recognition to control it with your hands at the wheel. I also liked the voice controlled reading of text messages out to you.

If none of those functions appeal to you then this is a good bargain buy.

To my knowledge, no tomtom ones have bluetooth for handsfree calling, and as l sell satnav pretty much on a daily basis, l have to know what im talking about, if you can get proof other-wise then l would be gratefull to know about it.

The TT ONE version TWO has bluetooth for tomtom plus services but cannot be used for handsfree calling. The version THREE does not.

Although it should be noted that you can't use it for handsfree etc - it is only for connecting to (e.g.) your phone so that it can download traffic data etc.

You didn't look at the link i posted then i take it?
It demonstrates a guy talking to his lady using the TomTom's mic & speaker

There are quite a few models that allow it.
It also shows him getting a text message and having his TomTom read it out using text to voice

Crankie your right, THIS IS NOT EUROPEAN MAPPING VERSION, that one is £188 on amazon, they have just worded it very craftily or very stupidly.

1. The colour is wrong for the euro.
2. It actually tells you further down the page, only comes with uk,ireland maps.

I had almost posted this myself until i had realised

Good deal, voted hot.

I think the TomTom software is fab, but I wish they'd support traffic info for free, like some of their competitors.

Look at my posting #10. I have cut and pasted two of the postings on the Amazon forum.

These two people have both purchased the listed TomTom and confirm that it does have European mapping!

It mentions in one place that it is supplied with UK & Ireland maps, but four places that they are European maps!

I just think that it was sloppy editing of an existing listing and one reference was not edited correctly.

I have also purchased it and if it does not have European mapping, it will be returned.

Thanks Snomaes, will chance my luck at PC world for a price match. Has anyone else tried it?

yeah but im talking about the tomtom one, not the tomtom 520/720 which are completely different models that come in at £250
*edit* oh and A1 chances are pc world will only match stores within 20 miles of them and not web offers, give it a try tho, not much to lose is there?
*edit 2* If you do recieve a britian/ireland one, complain and demand for a european one sent out to you as thats what it is advertised as then.

The advertisement for either the 720 or 920 traffic version says it has free subscription to the traffic info.
It might be worth you checking out.

I think Amazon provide the 520 for £203 delivered which is even cheaper than I though.
It doesn't include the traffic receiver or subscription but it has all the other functions that I mentioned.

Only good for you if you think it's worth paying an extra £73 to get a hands free kit, mp3 player, speech recognition, text message reading and a slimmer unit.

Now that is a very good deal for a sat nav such as that, think of it this way..... you'd normally pay about £70 for a decent handsfree kit in your car..... so minus the 70 quid, your paying £133 for a very good sat nav that is pretty much brand spankin new out.

Expired: Amazon.co.uk's price on this is back upto £148.
This is still cheaper than Dixons Duty Free at Heathrow, who are charging £153 ! Duty Free, eh ? Uh-huh.
That's more expensive than Halfords, and Amazon.co.uk.
Mind you, two weeks ago, Dixons Duty Free were charging £127 at T4... but apparently, that was a limited offer, and has now expired. Sigh.
#34
Hehe. An important part of my holiday ritual is to get to the airport early so I can go and laugh at the prices in duty free.
