Previously posted here - went to 510 degrees:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/304651/tomtom-v4-assist-with-12-breakdown-/

Some things to know:

Doesn't come with TMC traffic receiver, but is TMC capable if you get the receiver separately.
You can pay over three months interest free using a credit card.

I took advantage of this deal last week, I'm so glad I did and CDiscount were superb, complete order tracking on their site and through Home Delivery Network.

A mention should go to the original lister nicksinghuk if the listing is going to be allowed to stay

Just why some listings are allowed to be duplicated is beyond me, I have tried to list an item that had been listed months before went out of stock and I thought was worth putting back on, it was gone before I finished typing almost!! I am puzzled

Does anyone know anything about the breakdown assistance - ie is it worthwhile - I'm looking to join the RAC, just wondered how this compares? Ta

You put a voucher code in here, and send off the bar code cut off the box:

http://www.tomtompromotion.com/assistance/

It's Mondial-Assistance which is a French company, they mainly do travel cover but also roadside assistance, although the UK website says nothing about it:

http://www.mondial-assistance.co.uk/gbr/en/travel-insurance

Apart from this:
http://www.mondial-assistance.co.uk/en/aboutus/products/automotive_services.htm

Roadside is mentioned on their main international website:

http://www.mondial-assistance.com/en/individuals/individuals.htm

But no details. I would guess it's independent affiliate garages and breakdown vehicle operators contracted to provide cover in certain areas. Nothing like the capability of the AA and the RAC (RAC are AVIVA). I've not heard of them and there are no details, I am not going to bother using it myself, even though I have the voucher.

Does this have speed camera alerts

From the description:

# Safety Camera Location Data: Yes
# Safety Camera Details: Pre-installed, updates via subscription

It chimes when you are near a fixed camera. Of course it doesn't know about mobile ones.

Does this have an expansion slot for a SD card?

I bolded the part of interest. What does this mean?

I'm looking to buy a V4 with European maps, but haven't come across a super hot deal yet. I'm guessing the above doesn't mean you can just get the European maps for free, but thought I'd check. I'm wondering whether to pick this up and buy the maps separate.

EDIT: hmm, from the website:

MapShare technology enables you to receive updates and download new software from other members of the TomTom community, and with a £40 Map Upgrade Voucher, you’ll be able to take advantage for free.

£40 map upgrade voucher for free? So I can get European maps for this thing, for free?! Surely if that was the case, this is an incredibly hot deal.

I haven't tried it, bit it is a voucher code to be used by 31st October 2009, the documentation doesn't say £40, but says 'Free Map Upgrade'. The Euro maps are £39.95. I reckon if it has the memory then you can use the code to download euro maps. A GB map upgrade is only £20, and the voucher can only be used once.

4% Quidco

Took the plunge. I hope the voucher thing works out, it sounds ok.

As Daaker33 says, 4% Quidco (a saving of £3.32). However, there was £1.99 delivery tagged on. No biggie, but here's a heads up for others.

When I ordered it was £82.99 including next day delivery. The satnav was £79.99, delivery was £3. Nothing extra tagged on.
#17
Strange. I was charged £82.99 for the device and £1.99 delivery (with no option to change).

This is from the 'Validation of order email', the delivery was on a half price offer, so it only cost me an extra £1 to up grade from standard to next day. (the spelling 'ordre' is SIC)

The only thing I see different is your order was placed on 14th when perhaps the price was different? Looking at the site now it clearly has the item priced at £82.99.
