Is this a good price?
I've never really had much interest in satnavs but now need one for work.
Is Tomtom the "top brand"? I see you can cheaper satnavs by other brands. Help me?
My budget is £100 or under

Yes, this is a good price for the One XL, cheapest I have ever seen it is £120. :)

It's a fairly old model these days. I bought one about 18 months ago and it wasn't new then.

If you can persuade Tomtom to let you have a Software / Map upgrade, it'll be very useful mind.

I think I paid just under £100 from fleabay brand new.

A MUST is one of these or similar. The screens are very flimsy and break easily.

Can you post the proper link???

This was 99 pounds in sainsburys a few months back,i think they were clearing old stock,i was tempted but ive got tomtom on my phone.... good price though

It's very good if not occassionally dumb. This is the v2 XL which is the same as the v4 One.

I paid £150 for mine, and at £99 it is a steal, the widescreen is a real improvement over the standard screens.

Ah ok. What's the difference between the v1 and the v2?

I've just bought the One v5 for £150 last week from Tescos. There is also £20 cashback deal to claim after one month.... The new version has a route calculator that takes account of when your travelling and likely traffic volume on your route.... This means you might get a different route at midnight versus rush hour...Quite a neat app....

The screen size preference is an interesting one.The XL is certainly a good screen but might be a little too large for small cars with small windscreen and can block your view.I have an A4 and still opted for the smaller 4:3 screen.

Its all about your own preference really.

Oh £99 is a great price....and Tom Tom is pretty much the standard that all others try to match...

I opted for a Tomtom ONE IQ Routes last week after researching for a while. I started off looking at the sub-£100 models from Navigon, Medion, Binatone and so on, but they all have their shortcomings. Seems a greater proportion of people are happy with Tomtom and Garmin devices, and it just seems to be a matter of taste and varying features at different price points between those two.

For my deliveries, sometimes in the rougher areas the small screen is handy so it can fit in my pocket. Each to there own really, for an xl its the cheapest ive seen but you need to weigh up the screen size vs the software

I bought one of these recently for £100 and it came with a note saying that one free update was available. The wide screen makes it much better than the smaller alternative.

Will this attract a £20 cashback

I bought the One XL refurb from TotalPDA a couple of days ago for £80 which arrived next day. I cant tell the difference from a new one AND it had Western Europe maps.

You are allowed to upgrade to the latest maps(which I am doing at the moment) and it updates the TomTom software to the latest version.

Bargain

These were released a couple of years ago now but still a good price. You can get a new iq xl model for £130 after cashback.

£80.40 refurbished uk maps only

The one thing I really don't like about these is they have bluetooth but no hands free calling? Which is the one think I'd want it for. Grr. That and a fairly old processor so may be a little slower calculating routes and changes though how much this affects normal usage I don't know.

The TomTom ONE IQ Routes edition suggested above is a great piece of kit.

This ONE XL is an old unit with two new version being released since then. However you should qualify for a free map update for this when you link up to your computer via TomTom home, so I've voted hot since its under a £100

worth having for the SD slot, I had this unit for a trip round california with the US maps loaded on a SD card. At the time the, the Tomtom One, (i think) was the same price as the XL, but it did not have the slot, or enough storage for the extra maps. i paid £130 last year

AFAIK no one XL's comes with a SDslot, its 1GB internal memory on the UK editions and 2GB internal memory on the Europe editions. Bear that in mind for unofficial map updating.

As mentioned in other posts, all tomtom products come with a guaranteed most up to date map service, meaning if when you plug it into your PC for the first time if there is a newer map available then you can download it for free.

I'm not sure thats right. The totalpda xl one states an sd slot in the specs and says maps come on an sd card...

I can confirm that the ONE XL from TotalPDA comes with an SD card slot. The box for the ONE XL Uk states " SD Slot (only for additional maps, sd card not inlcuded).

Free map upgrade is for the first 30 days AFTER you connect it to the PC for the first time, so if you don't connect it for 6 months then you get 30 days from the first time you install it to the PC.

I did have a link to a comparison of all the tomtom models, which have what internal memory or sdclot, but can't blooming find it. The One XL V2 definatly doesn't have a sd slot as i have that model and its internal memory only.
