or you could just look where you are going as there are always signs before them warning you and the things themselves are brightly coloured!

For people who drive long journeys and don't always take notice of the signs, then the audible indicator is potentially a driving license saver.
In any case people who do use it may find this deal useful ! :p

(I do tend to stick to the limits these days, especially after being done for doing 34 in a 30 - hasten to add, it was about 20 metres coming into the 30 from a 60 zone - but hey ho.)

voted hot btw - good price for those wanting it.

What I hate are the idiots in BMWs who over take you at 50mph+, just to break hard in front of you to 30mph in a 40mph zone after spotting one!

What about those idiots who drive right up your rear bumper when you slow down for a speed camera or when driving outside a school etc; after seeing an 7 year old child knocked over and die on the road it makes me mad for these selfish brainless morons who use the roads as a personal grand prix circuit, they just increase insurance premiums for responsible drivers!..rant over, feel a lot better now...

How about letting thugs know where the nearest policeman/woman is before they attack someone?Speed kills, but too many think they can control a fast car when they can't.

Just take females and old people off the road and we wont need speed cameras.

i cant stop laughing. how many of those things do you have in england?
must be too many if you have to have them on your gps!!

sorry its completely crazy!

TomTom Safety Cameras are appallingly inaccurate, don't waste your money!

You are better going to pocketgpsworld.com and subscribing to their Speed Cameras, it costs £19.99 for a year and you can use it on up to 3 devices.

I`d gladly swap these yellow boxes for the speed bumps appearing every where.

I`d gladly swap these yellow boxes for the speed bumps appearing every where.
Yeah right and spend £200 plus to repair the front coil springs as to avoid damage one has to take it at 10-15mph in a 30mph zone. IF they were designed to be taken at 30mph by a normal family saloon/hatchback then I would not complain BUT it would still put a great deal of stress on the springs. Hence cameras are a far better option.
Yes I know the 30mph is the speed LIMIT but it is my legal right to hit that speed if I choose to and not be stopped by obstruction in the road.

And it's now been proven that speed cameras have had no positive effect in reducing road traffic fatalities - as anyone with half an ounce of common sense knew would happen.
Speed cameras are / were there purely as an income revenue generating medium. Nothing more, nothing less.

There won't be many of these left before too long. After the Government removed the ring fencing for road safety budgets given to local authorities, many are choosing to scrap them in order to make savings. Like them or hate them they did a job and at the end of the day if you got caught by one it was because a) you weren't concentrating or b) you can't drive so shouldn't have a licence anyway. Most of what you see at the road side is just an empty housing anyway. The actual camera equipment is moved around on a cycle and as this is the expensive bit they don't have many. I used to find it quite amusing when people in our county would go to so much trouble to set fire to one thinking they were a hero and the reality was there was nothing but an empty metal box there and it did absolutely nothing.

Hot deal though if you can't drive properly.

Speed skills!

Its not a black/white situation;sure driving at 80 in a 30 will kill. But driving at 35 in a 30 area when few/no pedestrians are around?

What would you prefer ; drivers constantly on the look out for speed cameras in case they exceed the limit by a few mph and not being aware of children, old people etc on pavements / people on mobiles or a drivers having a speed warnring system so they can concentrate on avoiding accidents ?

I've seen a lot of mobile speed cameras recently. As I said though this isnt a hot deal as TomTom Speed Cameras are very inaccurate.

speed doesnt kill, now stop talking absolute rubbish and believing headlines you read in newspapers

You are so wrong and presumably never been affected by death or injury caused by speeding. My Dad was killed by a speeding driver. If that doesn't convince you and put you off speeding then perhaps you would like to speak to the driver that got a 4 year prison sentence for causing death by dangerous driving. -Perhaps he thought speed didn't kill when he decided to drive above the 30mph speed limit on a bend - speed limit are there for a reason!

Having worked as a road safety officer for 4 years I have seen it all. I have taken abuse for speed cameras and seen the tragic consequences of speed and the story above is so common. 3000 people per year in UK are killed on roads and granted not all of these will be down to speed but surely anything that keeps people to the speed limit is worthwhile. When you see the results of what a speeding car does to a human being it quite frankly makes people's moaning about cameras being cash cows simply laughable. If you get caught on a camera it is all self inflicted. How many signs did you go past? is the box painted yellow? Do they publish the locations of all the cameras on websites and in papers? The chances are even if you are caught you get the option of doing a workshop instead of having points on your licence. They actually couldn't do much more to help you not to get caught which makes the whinging even more confusing.

I agree speed cameras can play a part in road safety but isnt it funny how so many are positioned not on dangerous sections of road but in places where they will catch the most people.
#34
Voted hot - a good price and could make some journeys a lot less stressful

Not trying to offend anybody, but hardly anyone drives at exactly the speed limit 100% of the time...and those who say they do are saying so just to be argumentative.

Whilst I agree with this in principle, as has been already mentioned, its the strategic use of cameras to generate revenue that I am against. Placing them just after a change in speed limits, on motor ways, the councils use them to make money.
#38
The way the camera's are positioned is proof positive of the intent of speed camera's. If lives were the real issue many more lives could be saved by making smoking illegal. Money is the issue with smoking and speed camers's., not lives. Shame because far less speed camers's but positioned at strategically dangerous spots actually could save lives. As it is, it stats have proven they are ineffective at life saving.

Did you know when someone is killed on the roads it costs £14m

surely this is tax avoidance?
