Rather good price, considering the European cover.

Get it quickly - Asda have a habit of selling off within hours!
#2
Pity about the N.I. delivery charge........

I paid £67 for the TomTom Start UK a few weeks ago. It went out of stock an hour later. When it didn't arrive, I rang their customer services to find it had been lost in transit - not that they had been planning on informing me of this. They said I could have a refund and order another one, which of course I couldn't because they didn't have any more...

I wrote a letter of complaint and got told I could have a £25 e-voucher as a goodwill gesture which I thought was nice - until I had to send 7 or 8 emails requesting the voucher be sent (being told each time it had been), and I finally received a £20 e-voucher...

Great price for the TomTom but I'd be reluctant to order from Asda Direct again!!

i've been waiting for a cheap tomtom mines going on the blink and the maps needed updating.
ordered it to store cos i never know when i'll be in. hot from me
#5
Hot from me, I have a non European start and it's never let me down.
#6
Ordered one to replace my Binatone. Thanks op hot from me. Anyone want a Binatone A350? 11 months old and only used twice in very good condition.
#7
Its hard to understand this forum sometimes, the UK version was very hot a short time ago, now for £10 more this is Europe one is ignored.
XLNT post OP - mine is on order.
Thanks
#8
Maybe because it was in White and that put people off Tin Tent, but you, me and some other's got it before it went out of stock.
#9
Tempted, but must go to bed!!
#10
tempted too, but so limited in features... I think I'll keep my iPhone a little longer, despite speakers not being loud enough.
#11
tempted & bought. been looking for a while. cheaper than refurbs
#12
it says IQ but at this price (69 instead of 87) it should be the start 1, not start2, as the start2 black is advertised as "new" and sold for 139...
#13
But it isnt stating that it is the 'Start 2'
#14
voted hot
#15
but can you make it have yodas voice?
#16
heat added... just ordered... thanks OP !!

Don't forget 8% Quidco or TCB...
#17
this seems like a great price. I had an RAC satnav and tbh its rubbish.

this seems like a really good price considering the EUROPEAN maps and the fact its TOM TOM.

Thanks OP
#18
Hot from me considering how much the european maps can cost. I have the same one in black for the UK and that should fetch a nice amount online
#19
bought and went through quidco! it was about time i replaced me aged tomtom one V1!

Confirmed £4.75 tracked via QUIDCO.

thanks again OP

Been surpassed by the Start 2 that adds lane guidance and Spoken street names. This basic model lacks many features in a "simplified" menu.

Yes thats exactly why I'm getting it! The Sat Nav on my iPhone rips through battery and also you can't use it for anything else unless there's a good stretch of road with no direction changes ahead!
#27
Can anybody tell me if this model has safety camera alerts? I know the start2 has it from looking on the tomtom website, but cant find the specs for this one. thanks!

Hey, from the online manual page 16 it seems as though it does. Dont quote me. They can always be added later if you can get your hands on a copy....

£4.75 tracked for me via Quidco!

I belive Garmin are tracked by about 26 satellite guaranteeing you service everywhere; next come Tom Tom with about 16 satellites; and then the cheaper ones with 2-3, which is why Binatone & RAC arent up to job

Cant wait to pick on the 22nd!
#31
Now OOS, thanks anyway OP

Thanks for that. I didnt actually know that. However its not finding the signal that is the problem with my RAC its just generally rubbish.
The other day for instance in birmingham centre I had a full postcode and my RAC took me to this little old church which was about a mile away from where I told it to go. I used the freenav on iphone app store and that took me straight there.
Goodbye RAC...hello TOMTOM :-)

I was in Halfords and one of their sales persons was explaining to another couple how these things worked & explained the rationale for the price variances - which explained why I never had a problem with my Tom Tom, but masses of problems with my Binatone & basic Navman
