Ive been looking at tomtom deals, and checking for traffic receiver, saw this and thought it might be a good price.
Anyone know if this is all you need to get traffic on a tomtom, and do you need to pay any addition contract fees?

Whether this is any good all depends on what version it is. Do you know?

Compatible with all new and old TomTom Lines...

from experience TMC in this country is pants and not very widespread, in europe its excellent....

In answer to your question though:

The TomTom Traffic Receiver gives your standard TomTom GPS real time traffic information and updates, allowing you to avioid traffic jams and hotspots, making your journey even easier. Compatible with all new and old TomTom Lines including Go 520, 720 and 920, GO 530, 730 and 930, as well as their Traffic variants; all new and previous XL models (One XL and XL V2) and all new and previous GO units including GB, Euro and Traffic variants.

For the money quoted its worth a play, but not that reliable...

Another thing, if you have a car holder like a brodit then you will need to buy another one if you want to prevent continually undoing the TMC cable when you remove it from your car..

By the look of the picture its wont fit v2 XL. I have just sold my old xl and bought a new V2 xl and it is 100% different.

That I think is the old version. I have that version on my TT One v3 and it works perfectly. I can'tunderstand what all the fuss is about when people say they don't receive any messages. I get the green symbol and I get updates wherever I drive. Antenna is stretched out along the bottom of windscreen. I also use hire cars quite often and it has always worked in those too. However I would recommend the new version simply because it seems to be an improvement. Those having trouble with the old version may benefit from an update to the TT firmware a few months ago which makes a big difference.

The information though is debateable. I tend to find it is either 'old news' or I am just lucky most of the time. I get that beep beep to tell me there is an obstruction 25 miles or whatever ahead and it nearly always seems to have cleared or not be so bad by the time I am there.

If its the old version then its not worth buying, not even for a pound from what I here. I have a TT 530T and the traffic ariel on that is fantastic, ive only know it struggle to get reception for about 10 mins, then it was fine.

If you look at the review on amazon, some people mention what part numbers are worthwhile and what ones are not.
