I heard bad things about this game, does anyone who has it think it's any good?

If you end up not liking the game you can make it into a real board like these folks did:

Tony Hawk Ride received a mix bag of reviews, mostly negative however I am interested to what other games implement the use of the Ride board.

Happy gaming,

Nice vid. Guess they didn't like the game either :whistling:

I think it's £29.99 for a reason, no-one would by this at the massive introductory price, especially with many reviews slating the thing.

I've got it! Its alright actually. The only problem is that its too hard to pull off some of the better moves.

I'd also like to know if theres gonna be any more games that use the board.

Complete waste of money at any price, not fit for purpose!

Save your money and buy a real skate board.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree with Scar a little with his review comment as I have never ever seen anyone say anything positive about this game. All the reviews I've seen have been pretty damning, highlighted just how much room you actually need to use the board (don't forget you'll be pivoting on it and waving your arms) and to back it all up, the Metacritic average is a mere 46.

As for cross brand use of the board, I'm pretty confident there'll be absolutely none. Upon release this game sunk faster than the Titanic and the impending release of the Playstation Move and Xbox Kinnect just crucified it as a viable controller.

Plus as it's Activision, no doubt they only give you a six month warranty on the board as they'll claim it's a toy, but that's another story for another day..........

Amendment: Oh I've just seen the release price for Kinnect from ShopTo - maybe there's life for the board yet.

At 29.99 at least its at a price worth a punt, even if the game isn't great.

I've read comments from people on gaming sites which suggest the game isn;t as bad as the mainstream reviews would suggest.

lol I'll be honest, I too have yet to see a positive review but I didn't want to dismiss the possibility of there ever being one outright.

I've read some comments that the game had the impression that they put all their focus on the hardware (Ride Board) and not on the game itself and, with the game only playable using the Ride Board it just became a mess.

With that said I hope other developers utilise the technology of the Ride Board in the future - whether or not that becomes a reality I don't know.

Happy gaming,
Scar

I like the end where the two skateboarders are trying to convince the older gentleman that it's only a game,
"Then why don't you go to the park and play with your Xbox?"
"No because this is a special Xbox for the streets."

Before buying check out this video review;

The game is such a let down.
I loved most of the previous incarnations - the board IS unresponsive - without trucks, it feels very unstable - and the sensors are temperamental. And I used to skate a lot - so aren't some of the grabs and board movements supposed to feel authentic/natural?
The answer is NO.
Bring back Bam Margera - all is forgiven.
As previously stated - it is £29.99 for a reason. On all formats.

For anyone who is near the Republic of Ireland, HMV in Sligo had the wii version for €30 at the weekend
#15
After all the comments, I've now cancelled my order - lol
#16
Its same price instore too, i picked up the pS3 version yesterday.
#17
From a collectors view point, might be worth buying and keeping it packaged as these failures seem to worth money eventually.
#18
Save your money and buy any of the Skate series instead, in fact just buy Skate 1 or 2 at a budget price and put the rest of the money towards buying a real skateboard.
#19
If you do buy a real skateboard, buy a really cheap one because you're going to spend most of your time trying to learn to ollie and if you can't eventually do that then you've wasted your money if you've bought a fancy one.

I asked my missus to buy me this for Christmas, but after reading all the bad reviews and being a veteran of the old Tony Hawks (ps1 + ps2) games i told her not to buy (at £110 at the time) even now £80 cheaper i ain't gonna part with my hard earned pretty polly.

And just to complete the story, i got DJ Hero Renegade for crimbo instead lol

argh... my 5yr old has been asking for this for ages but since seeing all the bad reviews i dont know now. dose anyone on here have it and is it really that bad??
#22
guys i have one for sale, BNIB.. collection from Birmingham will take £30 for it.

Cheers
#23
I saw Tony Hawks demonstrating the board on TV a while back and you could tell he was a bit embarrassed to be endorsing it!
#24
Friend has it, from the times i've played it i would say it's pretty terrible, but good price
#25
It's still £28 too expensive.

The game itself is supposed to be very dull and uninspired and very difficult to play on anything other than easy.

The board itself is meant to be unresponsive and you don't know if you're failing tricks because you're doing it wrong or because the board hasn't recognised your hands over the sensors.

I'd pay no more than £1 for it and even then I'd rather spend that pound on something better if it came along.
