I had the game at one point. Takes a good long while to complete. Controls could have been better, but at under £4 would make a great little extra birthday present.

Too crap
#4
I payed a fiver for it ages ago. its worth what i payed. the analogue controls take some getting used to though. and THAT DAMN DEATH SEQUENCE.
#5
highly underrated game,
better than some recent 3rd person "power up" titles
#6
bad game, but for this price id get it just for the achievement points

It depends on what sort of games he's into though I doubt he'd thank you much for this..! You can get much better for a few quid extra, try the original Gears Of War or Forza 2 or Modern Warfare 1, you should be able to pick them preowned and get change from a tenner...
#8
Underrated game and definitely worth it at this price. If you like a bit of hack 'n' slash and don't mind the laughably terrible story and dialogue there is plenty of fun to be had.
#9
i really enjoyed the game.
The controls got a lot of criticism but i really enjoyed it after about an hour of getting used to it. It seemed to make the combat flow more readily. The only issue i had was with awkward camera angles occasionally.
I can't wait for the sequel ^_^

Amazing buy for £4

Bear in mind though that Gears of War is a cert 18 game and Modern Warfare a 16.....

Yeah, point taken, though this is a 16+ so I assumed the child in question was over 16...

Yep, only buy this game if you want to spend 50% of the time watching that stupid angel death sequence. This game is utter tripe and the death sequence is the most infuriating thing i have EVER experienced in a game...AVOID

Hadn't even looked to see the cert of this game - just went off the reference to it being his 12th birthday
#14
Its a 16? Hmm, maybe not then! Although I've got him mirrors edge and thats a 16+ as well, yet doesn't exactly seem violent from reviews I've read? Also got him Project Gotham 4, Sega tennis, Red Alert 3 and Prince of Persia. So a fairly varied mix so far, he's def not allowed any 18 games though!

Due to massively conflicting reviews here and elsewhere I'll probably give this a miss for now, maybe get him Fable II instead. Thats in currys for 8 quid or so.

I must ask you why you want to sit through a bad game getting arbitrary "achievement points"? Does it score with the hot chicks to have 500000+ achievement points? Or?
#17
I've always wanted this for my collection; good enough game for the asking price, heat added.
#18
got this the other week for £3 and I do not understand how people can complain.

1. It is VERY CHEAP!
2. It's actually good, at least in my eyes, though I usually like the games people don't lol, at least that is how it is with most of my friends. They like lots of games I don't and don't like the ones I do, they are big fans of the usual games, call of duty, left 4 dead, gears of war etc.

If it helps I never listen to reviews and judge games myself by actually playing them myself, reviews are usually rubbish and they only play it for 2-3 hours, sometimes in games that is not enough to know how good a game is!

I didn't even see the lad's age... teach me to read to more carefully!

I really didn't like this game and it didn't review too well, but some people seem to really like it. It sells for about this price on eBay used, so you could always take a punt and flog it if you don't like it.

the most hilarious thing about this absolute pile of tat is that its in the top ten most expensive games ever made, it cost over £3million to produce this rubbish and I genuinely have no idea where all the money went.
#24
Fable it is then, will grab it on the way home. Thanks all :)

Presumably you didn't mean £3 million, cos that wouldn't get it anywhere near to being in the top 10 most expensive games ever made. £30 million perhaps? I can't see why it would have cost that much though!

It's because you can pick up guns and shoot people in the head. Your character is likely to get shot to death if she does but it's still there.
#27
Ah, spose at least it teaches him guns are bad!

THAT DAMN DEATH SEQUENCE.

Must agree, Its the most annoying thing ever.
#29
Totally underrated game.. I really wasn't a fan of Gears of War, but this one ticked every box for me.. I picked it up for £2.99 in the Gamestation January sale, but it's well worth the £4 here..

Indeed, it actually cost $60mill plus whic is utterly utterly ridiculous, it has the graphics of an xbox 1 game,

10. Killzone 2: $45 million
9. Final Fantasy XII: $48 million (FFXIII is rumoured to have cost 150% of what FFXII did)
8. L.A. Noire: $50 million
7. APB: $50 million
6. Halo 3: $55 million
5. Metal Gear Solid 4: $60 million
4. Too Human: $60+ million
3. Shenmue: $70 million
2. Gran Turismo 5 : $80 million
1. Grand Theft Auto 4: $100 million

60 million??? *mind blown*

It's like someone spending £60,000 on a car and then rolling up in a battered old Ford Capri. I just can't see where the money went unless the devs liked to take long lunches at The Ivy on expenses every day for the course of the game's development.
