I would only be prepared to buy from a closing company using a credit card - you then have option of doing a charge back to the cc company if the goods don't arrive. If you pay by debit card or cheque etc. this protection does not apply.
Has to be over £100 on a credit card for protection but a Visa debit has a chargeback clause as well.

good price. We have the same one, paid a little more. The knobs do unscrew quite a lot but for the price that's nothing to grumble about
Brilliant price. Ordered. Many thanks

That is a very good deal - just bear in mind that while they look very similar, it's actually a different drill. That kit has the DF330 which is a drill driver, whereas this kit is with the HP330 which is a combi hammer drill driver (so useful for light masonry drilling).
They're both good prices, but just make sure you're aware of the differences because it isn't just price.
Bought it thanks OP
followed the link you gave and ordered a battery.......received it but it doesn't work ,drill doesn't move with the battery in and the charger says the battery is defective. I may have ben unlucky but I have emailed the seller to return it and they are saying I have to return it at cost or for an extra £6 they will ship out a replacement. Have emailed them back stating the sale of goods act so we'll see what their response is to that. Anyway the drill and the impact driver are amazing , the impact driver especially as it makes short work of 4" screws that a normal drill driver struggles with and ends up chewing the heads off the screws. The kit is well worth the money.

will the impact driver have enough torque to drive in M10 masonry bolts into brick?
hell no
Sorry to hijack, but if you missed this http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/makita-dril-impact-driver-18v-li-ion-158-b-q-slough-store-1919588 this morning it's worth a look.
I just got in and searched makita to find my post and this one popped up.
I've never tried a 10.8v, not sure it would have enough balls for some jobs, but benefits are they are lighter wieght.
In case you were leaning that way Dave, the accessory kit is £20 at B&Q
Gravitastrophe
Amazon. £132.39 and there's also a toolstop seller that's a couple quid cheaper but without the accessory kit (kit can be picked up for £20)

I've been looking at lots of makita drills and drivers recently. Because this one lacks power I think I'll go for a better drill which can also handle most driving and save having to buy another one later and get an impact driver down the line.

These ones look great for odd jobs but I live in an old house with solid walls so a good hammer function is a must

Cheapest I could find the accessory kit was £25 on ebay. So even with Toolstop and a few others at less than £140, still a fairly decent saving! Obviously if you don't want the accessory kit, not worth buying this deal!

Might drop them an email and see how good the hammer function is on the HP330.

they delivered mine today - a clearly used one, with the chuck, handle and depth gauge missing. Not happy.
Been looking at these over the last week and they've got really good reviews - bought from Toolbox before (some Hozelock gear, but never their ROK branded stuff). Worth a punt for the average DIY'er?

Also, don't think you can collect... not 100% sure though.

If you are looking for a cheap woodburner I'd take a look a these guys ....been around for a few years now, EU manufactured compared to some very dubious chinese units, won't last yopu forever but good price for the output, welded steel has come a long way (it used to be cast irons "poorer brother"

However I digress, a nice non folksy contemporary looking stove for £220, (around £260 delivered) with some stovepipe 5kW "nominal" output & a tested 73% efficiency rating you could do far worse, bonus having 2 air feeds for added controlability

I'dconsider one of these for my workshop

Being a wood stove fan I do have a nosey around cheap & expensive big brands & am often dissapointed at the way both are built, so look at more than just the front of the stove if you are contemplating an investment, there's a lot to be said for a door closure catch! (my first judgement) hinges, vermiculite bricks, replacement costs etc....

http://greymetal.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=149

Or if looking for a big output 9+ kW then this fella with airwash ...CHEAP!!!!! '£249 basic cost http://greymetal.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=240

Just don't burn crud wet wood / low quality wood & insulate your room to keep heat in longer.

Does anyone know roughly how much it costs to have one signed off?

I've had help from a friend to install ours (He's in the trade) but he's not Hetas registered so just looking for it to be signed of really.

Any knowledge imparted would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Expect to pay about £300-£400 to get it signed off, the best part of a days work. A lot of installers won't even do this.

Is this a legal requirement? Or a recommendation?
thanks

The installation of a wood burner is legally required to be notified to your local building control. The benefit of Hetas is the installer can 'self certify' and notify it himself. The alternative is ask a building control officer to come round and certify the installation ( ~£120) is to standard, the problem is the officers are clueless so will insist you get a Hetas guy to certify it!

If it's in your own home then there isn't a lot anyone can do, certainly if they have no knowledge about it. The only problems that can arise are if you try selling the house or if there's an accident due to the installation.

After years of holidaying in log cabins & loving relaxing with a real wood fire we are getting a stove fitted when we move into our new house. Nowt to do with keeping up with the neighbours agnostic.

Is there not an issue with burning pallets or insufficiently dried wood in one of these? i.e. creation of creosote etc in the flue which can lead to disaster.

There are different markings for differently treated pallets which once spotted is an instant indicator as to useable or otherwise, (some are heat treated & others are chemical treatment) ..then there is to consider what it's had on it.

Can't recall the identifying lettering but a quick google should get you there.

(nb if collecting pallets it's far better to know how to cut them prior to loading otherwise lots of dead space in your vehicle), especially if you come across a decent amount at a location.

Good value for a possible life saver.

Absolutely.

We had smoke alarms but no CO2 alarm fitted until a British Gas service fitter found that our open gas fire had got its flue blocked by a flippin pigeon building a nest in our chimney.

If he hadn't checked it we wouldn't be here now :(

If you've got gas appliances get a CO2 detector ASAP!
Good value for a possible life saver.
Yes, I just had all three of my smoke alarms replaced for free by the local fire service, who also fitted the old ones a few years ago.

Oh well. My mum bought one of the Qualcast mowers the other week.

I bought a Honda Izy like this http://www.justhonda.co.uk/pages/product52.htm in 2002 when I wrote this review http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/lawn-mowers/honda-eco-mower/405083/ It was £165 back then and its £285 which seems like a big increase - 6.25% a year for 9 years.
