Over the past month, I have been collecting votes to try and compile a list of HUKD members' favourite movies of all time. I didn't get as many responses as I'd hoped for, so instead of a top ten, I've had to compile a top 13 because some of the nominations were tied for votes!

I'm just going to put them in alphabetical order, as the voting results were so close together, but I will tell you this - Terminator 2 and The Usual Suspects were tied for first place!

Anyway, I've listed the Top 13 - and the cheapest online prices for them at the minute. I've listed a few different versions where available, including box set editions. Please post your comments in the thread, and if you happen to find one cheaper, tell me and I'll update the list for everyone's benefit. All prices shown include delivery, and if I have made a note about vouchers, be sure to check the voucher section for further discounts.

Hope you enjoy the list!

Thanks emmajk42
I think it's difficult for me to select any Top 10 for movies because my enjoyment is always subjective. But good list and most of these films are rated highly by me :)

Nice list!! A few I've yet to see on there so I'll be taking a look at those offers. :D
#4
I see a few of mine made it in there!

Nice work emma.

Back to the future, terminator 2 and Seven would probably be my top three. Just out of interest Emma how many replies did you get in the end?
#6
I have the Usual Suspects but I thought it sucked ;P Start of it was good though.

Good to see GLADIATOR in there! :D

Thanks X10 & Kyle. Yeah Jake, a few of yours were there :D And Ducky, if you haven't seen some, they are all definitely worth a watch. I have not seen the Good, The Bad and the Ugly, so I'll be checking it out quite soon.

@ Greg - I got 18 replies in total, which isn't very many IMHO :( but it did make a list of some very good movies. Thanks once again to all of those who took the time to vote for your faves.
#8
Well you've certainly created a list of great films Emma. Thanks for your hard work as ever

Matrix is £3 in Asda

Fair enough, but I'm listing the cheapest online prices, and its £6.47 in the Asda online store. If anyone wants an offline bargain on that one, then Asda would be great.

What a great idea Emma.

Most are a bit too macho for my taste but
I bow to the democratic vote.

The Godfather is always in such lists and I
think Brando's acting is overated. Ooops!
Don't want to start a flame war!;-)

how can u criticise Brando but be happy with Arnie being number1 lol.
Also a lot of those Movies are good dvd's well presented with lots of extras, but are not particularly good movies that will stand the test of time. e.g T2,Gladiator,7,sin city.

Movies I think should be in there.
Star Wars (original trilogy)
Goodfellas
Vertigo
Rashomon
Casablanca
One flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Lord of the Rings (trilogy)
The Big Lebowski

You should have voted for them a1 ;) (Unless you did in which case my apologies).
But it does go to show subjectiveness with movies. I mean, you could say they are the Top 10 Sci-Fi/Action Movies etc. etc.
I would say T2 is certainly a film that will stand for a long time, and The Matrix is one that's made a massive impact in society and also the future of cinematography (how many films have tried to mimick it now?). But then that could be said about Star Wars and so many Hitchcock films.
I would say North By Northwest is a cracking film too, just so many, how can you make a Top 10! :)

Not too happy with Arnie either but at east his
diction is good.

I agree about Star Wars but am not an avid
film watcher.

My favourite film is Tron, one of the few films
I can watch again and again because of the graphics.
I don't think that will stand the test of time either.
No great acting there.

You may also know him as Bill, from Kill Bill 1 & 2, and for the slightly older among us as Kwai Chang Caine from the TV Series Kung Fu.

Can't believe The Usual suspects came out No. 1...its my No 1 too. Others in list that appear in my own top ten are Pulp Fiction and The Godfather.

But what ever happened to The Sound of Music?!! :(

Tron is awesome. I watched it again not long ago and was amazed at how well it did stand up given its setting right at the start of the computing revolution. I love that film.

also worth noting that 24 years on from its release people still make light cycle games and know of the film.
#27
Not a single Zombie flick????????

What the hell is going on???

Damn you all!!!!!!!!
#28
You've seen one Zombie film, you've seen them all :-P

Why I ougta....! ( starts shaking fist)

You blasphemer!!

(While the man with no name danced in front the seemingly vunerable Necrostone and threw a few practise jabs, the large horde of zombies shambling up from behind unoticed. As they swamped the rather surprised man with no name...he manged to utter the immortal last word..."Bu.g.ger...")

Wow! Another Tronnie!
I'm obviously not moving in the right circles. Most people I meet have not heard of Tron or know of it but not seen the film.

24 years old!!!! I remember being overwhelmed by the SFX. They are taken for granted now but at the time..........astounding.

I can feel the need for another Tron rerun.

Not enough zombies in Tron...imagine a zombie on a light cycle? now thats entertainment!
