My daughter booked one of these "secret hotels", but BEFORE she booked she looked at the rough location of the hotel, and the facilities, and was able to work out which hotel it was (by searching the web etc).

She was staying in London and it happened to be a top quality hotel near Tower Bridge for a good price (cant remember the exact details).

So do a little bit of detective work before you book and you can probably find out what hotel it is.

Crikey, bargain or what?

I've just looked at London, 7th June, 2 persons for 3 nights, almost £2000.00 for room only!

I assume they want to stay 'Top Secret' as they are too ashamed of their prices.

You must have been unlucky ! I can see quite a few " Top Secret hotels " in Central London area for VERY much less for dates you mention eg:

"

* Best Location in Mayfair - 4* - London
* Area: London
* Situated in the heart of London's West End this traditional style hotel is ideal for business or ple... view more details

* alt_stars_4_of_5 Hotel star rating
* tripadvisor Check for customer ratings and reviews

* Standard Double and Non-Refundable. Room Only. view more rooms

Total hotel stay from £387.50 (includes taxes )

Hilton at Gatwick is £48 this Friday

Good deal if you can get them - but lastminute.com's customer service is crap they don't even bother to reply to you (they say within 24 hours, been 5 days and nothing) - caused me to loose out.

my girlfriend and i used this lastminute deal in march.... the "4 * hotel " was more like a 2* and wasn't up to scratch... so i'd be very careful before booking it again...

Have used them myself numerous times.
Its incredibly simple to find out where you are staying.
The secret hotel will be an identical replica to a hotel in the listings.
So simple filter out the star, take a note of some more specific amenities and look through the remaining hotels until you get a match. And that will be your hotel!!!

I stayed in Nottingham, top secret was £44 and after filtering and looking, i guessed it was Park Inn at £70 and booked, got my email and it was!

just a heads up, most of these are Hilton hotels, which really don't deserve their 4 stars imho.
Just pay with the intention of it being "just somewhere to stay" and anything else you get is a bonus :)

Try premier inn or travelodge

Tip for this 1 guys and gals, copy the "secret" hotel description and paste it into Google and more often than not you will find the direct site for the hotel your looking at. I have used these a few times, Laterooms also do something similar!
#14
tried them .Cheapest could get was £221 with Travelodge London Tower Bridge. stayed in Days Hotel Shoreditch about 2 years ago and got 2 nights for about £90, pity cant get it now though

Something to be aware of with these top secret hotels is that you do not get a VAT receipt. It didn't matter for me, but it could be if you need one for an expense claim.

I stayed at this place recently http://hotels.lastminute.com/hotels/selectCategoryHotel.do?CATID=4&accommCode=1063238-1-2-EXT:148660$v1v$ for ~ £100 for a night. I was the Grange Holburn http://www.grangehotels.com/hotels-london/grange-holborn-hotel/grange-holborn-hotel.aspx

The location was convenient, and the room was really big (although the bathroom was small). There was a nice unassuming cafe 50 yards away, where I went for breakfast. There is a big swimming pool in the basement.

I've also stayed at the "Elegant hotel in London - 4* - London. This luxurious 4 star hotel in Kensington is a fine choice for your stay in London". It was the NH Harrington Hall in Kensington. Again I paid about £100.

i booked a secret hotel in belfast and it was the 5* fitzwilliam hotel in downtown.

£75 for a £150 room

total luxury!!!
#18
That hotel has only recently been renovated and looks fab. good pice you got there.
#19
Oh ffs. £75 for a travel lodge in Norwich.
#20
travelodge doing rooms for £9 starting at 6.am on their website. Id say therel be nout in the london area.
#21
Trouble with this is it's lastminute.com. Must be the slowest site on the planet - I've tried to use it a few times and given up.

Recently used Expedia a few times for a good search then found I could book chosen hotels direct for less. Always worth checking before you commit.

I need a hotel in Split Croatia in July, 3rd. Anybody got any suggestions? Lastminute £178!! No thanks!

Laterooms normally come up with much better deals in my experience
#25
having done this for a heathrow hotel on a park and fly basis a few weeks ago I would NOT recommend it for stay and park - I had my vehicle damaged to the value 4 x the stay - everything is declaimed left right and center - if its just a place to rest your head though theres no reason not to use these - but if you go for a package deal with parking AVOID. (before anyone else thinks I was unlucky a NUMBER of cars in the hotel had been damaged too)

www.superbreak.com also do 4* Mystery hotels that usually work out cheaper than booking as a named hotel, try them
#27
thanks for the help. hadnt seen posts but booked 3 nights in november, Friday,Saturday and Sunday for £97 for 2 of us. Staying in Travelodge Southwark London. Seems to get decent reviews

See for a west end show like wicked or lion king, what is the best way to get tickets? Book soon on net or on the day at the ticket booth?

Missus just booked us a 4* in Liverpool for next weekend - Mal Maison for £61 - cracking bargain - stayed there a few times and never paid less than £120 a night...

Nice one :)

I've used the Top Secret Hotels on Lastminute.com before. Simple concept really - but the hotel you get can be totally random. However, do check the moneysavingexpert.com thread to see what others have gotten, and often those that have booked in the past can reveal the actual hotel.

Also, check out the tripadvisor forums, where for some cities there will be lastminute.com top secret hotel threads.

I managed to get the 5 star new hotel in St Paul's a few momths back for only £89 per night - bargain!

It would help a lot more if you stated which hotel! :thumbsup:

Indeed. I had a "mystery" heathrow booking via holidayextras for (as is easily worked out) Holiday Inn M4. (Another easy one is Crowne Plaza).
