First deal submitted, so hoping I've done all this right!

This package includes :Setanta Sports Conditional Access Module (CAM) plus Setenta Sports Viewing Card preloaded with connection fee, worth £10, and first months subscription to Setanta Sports worth £10.99.

http://www.johnlewis.com/230430343/Product.aspx

Not a bad deal considering you get the connection fee included for the price. Next best price I could find for the CAM is £25, + £5 postage and then you have to pay £15 for connection. You do get 3 months subs for all that, but this is still a great deal!

Hey stop knocking setanta...hot from me!!

Some people seem to have a downer on Setanta, not me...I just go to the pub to watch the games! :-D

Ok i'll explain it better, setanta are one of the worst companys i have ever dealt with, don't expect to be able to cancel it early if you ever want to get out if it, just google "cancelling setanta" or just do a search on here.

shocking customer service

try cancelling sky exactly the same i cnx in may and still trying to get money off me

$ky and $etanta have different contract models, with $ky if you're out of your 12months, so you shouldn't legally have an issue cancelling. $etanta up until weeks ago had the two months cancellation period and the fact they'd only accept cancellations via post (now you can do it via email).

do setanta by direct debit and it's easy to cancel - just cancel the DD and send a confimation letter to them in newcastle. By the way, you'll actually get 3 months free when you activate that pack as i discovered recently :-D

I never had any probs with Setanta. They keep offering me deals to come back. The latest was a free 160 gig
twin dvr , Setanta 1 sports for a year for £10.99 a month plus £20 connection fee, if I can get rid on the connection fee a might go for it.

I've bought one, and will be picking it up from the new store in Liverpool tomorrow. Will be an added bonus if I get 3 months free as opposed to the expected 1! Cheers mate, have some rep

Setanta gets the thumbs up from me, far better value than Sky in my opinion.

Lots of friends have gradually been sucked into paying £40/45+ for Sky, but for the numbers of games they watch they might as well have Setanta.

Sky has lots more games and the first pick, but with all the footy on ITV1/2/3,CH4 etc, you can only watch so much and especially with England away games now on Setanta cant see why there is a need to pay more than 3 times as much IF you only have Sky to mainly watch footy.

Cancelling is easy, as with any subscription package only ever pay by Direct Debit and you can stop the payment instantly with just one call your bank.

doesn't work like that though, i cancelled my direct debit and they still hounded me for money, and sent me a bill for each month i'd missed payment.

You have got to send them 60 days notice in writing which i did in the end but they then said they hadn't received the letter even though i sent it recorded delivery and had proof they had signed for it.

This joke of a company have got nothing on sky

I have to 2nd with that, ive had hell with that company and so has many friends and family of mine, better to stick with sky sports or bbc really.

Yeah, I have heard bad reports when it comes to cancelling, satisfied with what I am getting so not yet cancelled yet, so cant personally comment, but Sky can be difficult too ... I do know this from personally experience.

Believe Sentanta is by far a better value package if you are just wanting extra football and you are not tied into an annual contract.

You may get issues when cancelling but is this enough justification to pay 3 times as much a month?

Over 4 or 5 years Sky will have cost you thousands as opposed to hundreds with Sentanta.

not really sure how you can compare sky to setanta?? setanta is just a sports channel, sky offers a lot more including movies, sports, documentaries, dramas etc.

not really comparing like for like when you compare sky to setanta

Setanta is impossible to cancel unless you threaten them with trading standards. Not for me i'm afraid, i'll never subscribe to Setanta again.

Yes I agree entirely, which is why I said if you are just looking for extra football only!, which alot of Sky subscribers do, then why pay over 3 times as much?

The pricing structure on Sky encourages you to pay an extra few pound for movies, music etc, etc and you then end up paying £45 a month which you can only reduce by a few quid before you cant get access to the foot package, so lots of people just pay the £45 anyway.

Based like for like on just footy, cant see why anybody would want to pay 3 times as much?

Appreciate there are are alot of good stuff on others channels on sky like 24!!!!!!!, which you cant get elsewhere, but if you are just looking for sport then Setanta wins hands down in my opinion.

The odd series I must see and are exclusive to Sky like 24 can be got on DVD from mega cheap deals posted on here and then sold to only loose a few quid and far prefer watching a series like 24 all together than week by week with the ad breaks but thats another issue...

Will deal with the **** from Setanta when it arrives and not loose any sleep in the meantime!

I appreciate some people have negative feelings towards Setanta, but that aside, I posted a product that I had found cheaper than anywhere else.

Peoples biased feelings shouldn't detract from the fact that IF anyone reading this website wanted this particular product, this is the best deal around.

I thought that's what this website was all about??? :?

PS. I'll worry about cancelling Setanta when I get to that particular bridge. For footy alone (which is all I'm interested in), the tenner a month is excellent value IMO.

You are right, it is a good deal on the whole. I just work on principle, and on principle a company that is that pigheaded toward it's customer base won't get my business however good the original deal is :)

they can be awkward ******s but just play them at their own game - make sure you send the letter recorded to the correct address (in newcastle) and cancel the DD....not much they can do about that!
