Usual price is £280 delivered use code PVR10

To make sure you never miss your favourite program again the 5810 has Series Link and Accurate Recording features. Why watch them in Standard Definition when the Topfield upscales the picture to full 1080 resolution?

Handsomely remodelled the TF5810 has a scrolling Vacuum Fluorescent Display that shows the channel or menu information. The front panel has the buttons needed for basic operation, including Power, Menu and OK as well as a jog wheel for Channel changing and Volume control. There is also a flap for access to the twin CAM slots making the 5810 suitable for Pay TV offerings from Setanta (CAM and active subscription required)

The 5810 also has a variety of connections to make it compatible with almost any home AV setup including twin SCART, HDMI, Composite and S-Video output, SPDIF for connection to an Amplifier, and a USB for file transfer to PC.

* Digital TV Receiver - For Extra Channels
* 500GB Hard Drive - Record Up to 250 Hours
* One Touch Recording & EPG - For Ease of Use
* Timeslip - Pause & Rewind Live TV
* HDMI Upscaling - To 1080i

not according to the reviews I have seen.

very pricey for a PVR imo

but still a good deal on relative prices for this unit.

After reading the disappointing reviews of the noisy new Humax HDMI model with the non functioning USB port this is about the only top end model left worth considering. I haven’t read the reviews but it’s a good price; shame there’s no Quidco with Dixons anymore. :(

Best thing about the topfield are the taps that allow additional functioality to be uploaded to the machine - there are taps for all sorts of things, including some which improve the usability of the UI. I dont think any other pvrs have this feature. Look at toppy.org.uk for more info

I have both the 9200 and now the 9300 and the fan is not any noiser on the 9300 than on 9200

Well i beg to differ. Just returned 9300, fan very noisy. In fact as far as i am concerned a cut down version of the 9200. rap product and i can,t understand why they would release a product that is sub standard

If the 5800 model I have is anything to go by, I would say it is a great PVR for techie people who want to play around with it to get the best out of it, but not so great for basic users who just want a simple pvr that just works.

I have the original revision 9200T which is quiet but the later revisions of that model are noisier so if the 9300T is the same as those then it's still too loud for me. I've seen a number of reports of people returning the 9300 on DigitalSpy for this reason. I bought my parents a 9200TB last month from Argos and it's much louder than my early version. It's a real shame as they are pretty good apart from that. Worth buying one with a long warranty as 3 of the 4 that my extended family own have failed within 2 to 3 years.

Its overpriced now ok you get the 500gb HD but thats a lot of tv to record.Ive got the humax 9200 only a 160gb hd and ive never filled it yet.Better off buying the Humax 9150 for £129.99 does the same job as the Topfield for half the price.

Better off buying the Humax 9150 for £129.99 does the same job as the Topfield for half the price.

It does the same job if you exclude:

Upscaling over HDMI
USB transfer to a PC (both ways)
Extendable software
Quiet
500GB HDD
Front display panel
Digital Audio Output.
