Note - don't be tempted to try using the extension tube and 2x 14500's....
I have never understood this fascination with expensive torches. For me a torch is something I use when there is a powercut.

Are there clubs for torch fanatics? I have a vision of a bunch of anoraks in a field flashing their lights.
Extension tube available for an extra £2.50:http://m.gearbest.com/diy-parts-and-tools/pp_195408.html
No extension tube but got the S15 off gearbest for less than £12. May not exactly the same. Oos at mo though: http://m.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_79491.html

Blimy I bought a 2AA Cree tourch for £2.80 Inc delivery from I think it was Hong Kong and it's at least 200 lumen (a lot brighter than even my 6D Maglite). I also prefer the ones that take the rechargeable 18650 batteries.

Sorry.

plenty of choice for everyone, if you want IPX rating, ANSI lumens, regulated output, 1 to 3 AAs with extension tubes, 1450 lions, soft touch forward switch etc then this might outgun your bargain light. Anyway, check the reviews. Like many things in life, to get better stuff you have to pay. Once you've had the good stuff you're reticent to accept less.

Whatever your budget for a torch I'd still say it's a good deal.

But my tourch had 4.8 out of 5 with hundreds of reviews.

Glad you received it, how does it compare to your other lights?

You have a two level light with a strobe mode there. What level is the low mode and the runtime?

Have you got link to a review to allow a comparison?

What is the weight like? How long is the waterproofing good for? It looks like it has a collimator lens on the front rather than an orange peel reflector so I guess a lot of the output is wasted inside the body of the light? What is the beam profile like ?
Does the zoom let water in ? etc etc etc

Impressive 37 lumens ??? Sorry it's very very weak.

What do you expect from a single AAA battery. Other manufactures use standard cree tech, whereas maglite develop there own tech.

Compared to something like an LED Lenser X21R, then yes. Hell, even Portland Bill is brighter!

Ok - forget Ultrafire (who I agree might have questionable build quality at times) but I would rather have a Nitecore T2 or T5 @ £20 / £30 respectively. Far more lumens & respectable build quality too.

I used to be a big fan of Maglite's (indeed still own 3 myself - all upgraded to LED drop-ins) and yes have called on their lifetime guarantee too a couple of times, but quite simply Maglite have not kept pace with the times. They're bringing out stuff now that was on the market 5 or 6 years ago. Heck - even HM Constabulary don't permit the carry of Maglites anymore down here due to their (possible) use as a weapon ;)

Yeah, the Nitecores are good, I'll give you that. However, you're talking about an 18.5% increase in output for 93% increase in cost.

Hi roger what do you think of this for a cheaper option

Looks OK from the reviews, main thing to avoid are cheap Chinese chargers/batteries as there's some nightmare stories.

Cancel that, it does look disturbingly similar to this (also unbranded) one from here which ended up going bang:

http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com/p/18650-batteries-chargers.html

.. Supposedly had the CE Mark:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rr8AldzpFC0/TV7nvaZpHqI/AAAAAAAABkA/KTLfProlSnM/s400/Chargerlabel.jpg

But then had nice design features like this mains wire close to the DC circuit (see page for more on just the one unbranded charger)

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_aNSNwqBTd8/TV7niZ1avQI/AAAAAAAABjw/oeq2J33gLak/s400/-2.jpg

So you pays your money, you takes your choice. But £12.99 for a charger and two batteries, there's gonna have been some corners cut. (but not 240V supply wires) :p
Thanks for the reply , I agree with what you say

Link please on that particular model you recommend

My personal favourite is this one, which has a slightly "warmer" light output.

Brass CREE XML-T6 LED Light Flashlight Lamp Torch 1600 Lumens Camping

Also these are good, slightly whiter light, and different construction:

1600Lumen CREE XML T6 LED Flashlight Zoom Torch Lamp Light Camping 18650 charger

The batteries and charger won't be up to much, but it will do as a "starter kit".

For anyone doubting the quality, my first venture into these was about 6 years ago (UltraFire WF-501B with Krypton bulb) and is still going strong, the design hasn't changed, they're brilliant torches:

Ultrafire WF-501B CREE T6/Green/Red/UV LED Aluminum Alloy Flashlight Torch Light
