Probably should put "2.5 inch" in the title :-)

for £60 this is a cracking deal. at the moment the cheapest 2.5" 500gb HD on it's own that i've seen is about £71 from scan (in yesterdays today only offer) for samsung m6 which is 5400rpm, and that's the bare bones drive. i just got two, plus two external caddys to use my existing drives externally, total cost about £160

granted these drives are a bit slower if they are 4200rpm, but for large capacity small external USB storage it's perfectly fine as the USB will slow things down anyway

i would have had two of these last week if the offer was available. don't be confused with larger 3.5" drives that are more expensive, these things aren't much bigger than an iphone and power from the usb cable

this really is a steal!

I wonder if the feature is correct cause IDE 2,5" 500GB doesn't exist.

That's a good point. I honest thought they were 5400rpm drives but they are not.

Obviously this is going to get very cold in here now because of that.

Plus I think this is a 12.5mm drive inside so slightly bigger ?? !!

Personally I'd pay the £5 extra and go for the Verbatim 500GB USB 2.0 Portable Black HDD, which is 5400RPM and 9.5mm drive

i didn't notice it was 12.5mm, which means it won't fit in a lot of, or most, laptops, and won't fit in a ps3, but for the intended purpose of external portable storage it's fine. the verbatim for £65, if that's the right price, sounds like a good deal then
