Great find!!

Why are they still making Freeview HDTVs without Freeview HD? Especially Full HD ones! It's great to buy a bargain TV but when you need to drop £100 + on a Freeview HD box it's not quite as rosy. Even Freesat HD can be had for 50 quid, but you get less HD channels at the moment. More bandwidth available but less channels, go figure.

Very good find, good brand TV for under £250

Freeview HD would add more to the cost and as I can't get Freeview HD then it's not an issue.

Still think it could be wishful thinking. I just got myself the Evotel full 1080p 32 from Argos for £229. Just for my spare room. Had great specs and I happen to know the screen and components is made at one of the big TV manufacturers. Hence, why the outer casing remains unbranded in any way.

So think it could be a whole before we see a sub £200, hope so for your case though mate.

Prehab whats the Evotel like? Ive been considering this too....

I am tempted by the Sony EX503 tho, 100hz 1080p etc, just working out if its worth the extra money.

I have to say, the evotel is a fantastic little set. Unreal picture quality, 3 hdmi ports with a usb record feature. For what I needed it for the £80 difference to the Sony (now on offer at jlewis) was not worth it. However, if its gona be used as a main Tv I would get the sony and the 5yr warranty.

Not in stock anywhere near loughborough.. tried to get comet to price match for me :( no luck.

missed out on the £230 sony and this :(

Smokin' hot deal!

No point in spending your money on a decent brand TV, just buy a decent quality HDMI cable if you want to improve the viewing experience. Better quality blacks and richer colours can be yours for only £50 more!

Good advice! Don't forget that adding stripes to your car makes it go faster.

HDMI cables produce the same output, because it's digital. £1 cables are the same as £50 cables and only differ in build quality, so you might find them breaking more frequently.

won't go fo a T.V. under 100hz for sport, sharpness not as good as H.D. but alot better than standard 50hz

I picked mine up yesterday. The picture quality is great, so much so that I was very surprised, but the sound not so good in my opinion. Still, at £230 I can afford to buy a set of surround speakers and still come in at a good price.
#33
I agree that the sound is average however, for me it is only used for a spare room TV. So not important really. If it was main TV, could go for a surround or just buy a more higher end 32inch such as the sony I mentioned in the post above. Saying that mind most 32's have only a 10 watt outage and the difference is minimal IMO.
#34
Aren't Virgin/Sky and Freeview HD only 1080i anyway?? so no need for full HD, especially on a 32" set.

I bought a Sony 401 from RS for £249 and got the 5 year warranty for £25, it's full HD and freeview HD doesn't bother me as I use it as a monitor for my main PC
#35
Can you unexpire this? I just bought one today at this price! (instore). Great TV at a great price!

Assuming your set can de-interlace correctly, 1080i/50 for film content originally shot in 24fps (most movies other then made for TV) is effectively the same as 1080p/50. For everything else only a 1080p/i (or greater) panel will ensure there is no loss of detail. A 720/WXGA panel will need to downscale. The size of the set alone is of little use in determining if you need a 1080p panel or not.

Personally (budget allowing) I'd prefer the set did as little to the broadcast as possible and allowed my eyes to resolve whatever they can.

Still available instore at my local tesco for £249. Might go pick one up today or tomorrow, especially given that I ended up getting a Technika blu ray player for £50 yesterday.
