is this a good tv?
#3
This is annoying. I dont need a better tv than this one really, and getting this one would stop me spending daft money on some huge tv. But if I get this one I know there will be a better bigger one come along in the sales.

Hot deal, not sure if I can bring myself to get it yet....
#4
Great price for a branded TV with a 5 Year Warranty.
#5
bought a laptop for daughters christmas last year it broke with in months and there customer service was rubbish ended up going direct to acer who fix it straight away. might be a good tv but I would never buy anything from there again. BE WARNED
#6
wont let me add voucher code!!! :( any ideas? anyone actually bought it yet with code?
#7
nice to see the price coming close to £300 for branded, however no 100hz processing so ill pass on this one, but hot nether the less!

Please could anyone who (genuinely!) knows comment on how this compares to say the Sony KDL-32V4000 that was on recently?

Managed to miss that deal thanks to John Lewis saying they'd get more stock, but not that it would be £170 more expensive when they did! The Sony's still available at £360-70-ish (without 5 year guarantee) but if this is as good or better I might go for it.

Thank you! :)

whats the difference between parts guarantee and the 5 year Guarantee included in this deal?
#10

For the person asking for a comparison.....

I have the 32AV505DB and a Sony KDL 32S3020, Older models I know but the the Tosh has a very good picture with excellent colour. The only thing that does annoy me is you notice it dimming the backlight when the there is a lot of black on screen which means the black is black but credits are dull. On the flip side I watched Heroes the Eclipse episode on the Sony, an episode shot mostly in greys at the darker end of the spectrum and the Sony looked bloody awful. It just couldn't produce a smooth range of greys.

For the bedroom it is worth noting the Tosh has a mechanical relay power switch going from standby to on. About 4am each morning it turns itself on (with the screen off) to download the epg and you hear a click. Ten minutes later you hear it click off again.

For the money I'd say this was a good buy.

This Toshiba has VERY, VERY GOOD black levels and is absolutely BRILLIANT for the Xbox 360 Console (and PS3 I would guess). Also looks far better than the Sony - way sleeker.:whistling:
Negatives are the Freeview ain't so great (as with most LCD's) on the high bitrate Channels it is pretty decent but on lower bitrate stuff it does show up the flaws pretty badly. Inbuilt Tuner isn't the greatest either (make sure you have a strongish signal). Finally the speakers are garbage - but a £20 set of dedicated stereo speakers would solve that.

Dunno mate, but firefox and some IE users had no problems, think if you call them they'll honour the discount but you'll lose out on Quidco.

I'm after the Sony 32v4000 as well, missed out on the other deal and am waiting for the best deal....

Do you guys think Sony tellies will be reduced in the sale? I know it sounds like an obvious question but I have seen discussions on the forums about something to do with Yen/exchange rates/Sony raising their prices 30% in the new year. Would therefore appreciate some opinions ta x

I had issues trying out the voucher in Firefox, but then it worked fine in IE...

Also, The gadget show give this 4 out of 5, with a positive review here

Turn off the 'auto' backlight control on the Tosh. It's a very silly feature if you ask me and kind of does the opposite of what I thought it would.

ie... with it on going into an underground car park in GTA4 for example would leave me without being able to see anything because the backlight turns itself right down.

Voted hot!

Bargain for what you get, and it is probably one of the best you are likely to get in this price range with 5 year warranty.

I got my Panasonic TX-32LMD70 for £440 with a 5 year warranty 5 months ago, and this is a superior tv.

The sales are already on !

I bought this from pixmania recently and the picture was excellent through skys hd box and hdmi cable
But we initially had it going through scart from a sky + box and the picture quality was worse than our old crt.
It broke down after 30 days and after 2 weeks of getting messed around by pixmania !!! I called toshiba direct who were fantastic and swapped straight away with latest xv model (1080p)
so tv is great through hdmi and hd box but poor with sd and scart !
Hope this helps

For those that already have this set.

I would like to but this for my nan who cant get to grips with a seperate non-integrated freview box, she only uses programme up/down buttons.

When this is turned on does it default to analogue TV requireing her to go back to freeview, or when put in freeview mode it will stay there even when the tv is switched off?

Cheers

Defaults to freeview, I've never even used the analogue mode.

Ordered mine 4.30PM on Thursday and received it today before 9AM. The picture quality is fantastic and what a price, and a 5 year guarantee. Don't hesitate if you are after a 32" lcd, buy this before they run out of stock - you will not be dissapointed !!
This is the second TV I have purchased from Empire Direct and I would certainly recommend them !

Thanks for posting this and the 10% discount link - which expires on the 15th Dec

I looked at the Sony at Richer sounds (£359.99) before buying this TV, But I am really glad I went for the Toshiba.

It stays with the tuner and channel you were using when switched back on,and also has a power off button on the left side instead of leaving the TV on standby

[QUOTE=The gadget show give this 4 out of 5, with a positive review here[/QUOTE]

Can't take too much notice of that review as they talk about it being a 100Hz set which it is definitely not.
#35

#36

#37

#38
