The REGZA RV series is a range of Full HD 1080p Ready LCD televisions, blending superb picture and audio quality and delivering it in a stylish high gloss black design. All Regza RVs feature Resolution+ technology which enhances standard definition content to virtually high definition quality. EcoPanel is also featured and is designed to consume significantly less power than a conventional LCD TV without comprising on picture quality. The AutoView function is able to adapt to the lighting conditions in the room and analyses the content on screen, automatically and instantaneously providing optimal picture settings at all times.

very tempting

Very tempting indeed. In fact, the only thing stopping me buying it is that I need it to replace my 3 year old 32" Toshiba LCD that has developed a "stain" on the picture all the way down the right hand side (looks like something has been spilled inside the panel). I'm not sure I want to trust Toshiba with my money again.

Exact same problem with my tosh! Vertical band down left side. 32C3030D £462 4 yrs ago!

Had a 32" Toshiba Regza, dont know the model number off hand, for over 4 years and never had any trouble. Paid £580 and thought it was a bargain:D

Now that is a hot hot deal

Took advantage of this TV when it came with 12 months free odeon passes or LoveFilm membership before Christmas. Paid £309 then

Excellent TV for the money

Had a Tosh TV from 2002 that developed a vertical stain on the right hand side. Weird!

3 years isn't a bad life ! Tvs are out dated in 2-3 anyhow or a hell of a lot less money !

This gets a hot from me, just ordered

Only thing holding me back is lack of activity in forums if there is a problem or in need of a little help.I think i will just give it a few days and see if the c580 or ld490 drop any more.

Hot though for those on a budget or just need it for tv watching.I am looking for a tv as monitor use so there is a few i need to avoid (Cough S-PVA which i think this may have but i might be getting confused with sony)

Sounds good. We have 2 small Toshibas which we are very pleased with, but I can't find any expert/magazine reviews. Also, JL have an LG for £299 with similar spec and 5 year warranty.

Are Toshiba still doing the Lovefilm promotion? (free year, 2 discs at a time)

I got the 37" version when it was going quite cheap on Amazon a while ago.

If they work the same way then there are a couple of things you need to bear in mind before buying.

When you switch on the telly from standby, it take about 10 sec to swtich on the display and another 6 or so to turn on the sound. I don't know why exactly but it doesn't really bother me but thought may annoy some of you.

Also, media support on this is non-existent. You can only play photo off USB and that's it.

Finally, there hasn't been any firmware updates since I bought the TV, last time I checked was only a couple of weeks ago.

Other than these, the display quality is very good and I don't regret buying it (for the price I paid) one bit.

Just my 2p

When was that added though ? as bricks will always out last flat panels. Its a shame ctr's getting thinner never made it to market as they would be sh*t hot !

If the tv i buy lasts me 2-3 years then ill be happy as it would be money well spent considering how much I or you use it of course. This is my view and i am saying i will be happy if it lasts 2-3 years. Banding ect is commmon. My old hannspree 37" was going strong after almost making it too 3 years before i punched the screen:( How ever a 32" brought 2 and a half ish years ago (acoustic solutions) Died after it had blue strips going down the screen whcih led to half the screen being covered or it was half yellow if you changed settings. I wouldn't buy another again but at the time they were both good value for money. (2 1/2 really) 3 years later i can buy a samsung c580 40" for the same sort of price i paid for the 37" which going back to now would just be a let down.As the c580 blows it away !

Based on this and tec advances/experience i am happy to upgrade in 2-3 years time. As in 18 months time you should basically beable to get the c750 for c580 money. As i am told they basically drop down a series.

Well I put in an order as it seemed like very good value, and am currently watching sky hd on an old crt! hoping the media support might be a little better than you suggest though, it does have dlna support which I'm guessing will at least play some movie formats...but if not, no big deal.

In that case you are due an upgrade and you will be happy with the quality! lol

On the media front, solution is actually quite simple. Just get a network media player like the WD Live Hub, you can pretty much play whatever you want though that doesn't have iplayer etc.

Good luck with the purchase and hope you enjoy it.

TV arrived today, lovely picture, sound good too, very happy with it! So thanks to OP.

DLNA support was really weak though, was able to see all my network media on NAS drive, but nothing would play!

So yes, scmk3000, it'll have to be another network media player on top, I tested it with the sumvision live 2, and 1080p was lovely indeed. Its a shame that bits so lame though, I think it might be only the firmware that limits what it can play as highr models in the range manage to play divx etc with no trouble.. good thread here for some tips and tricks http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-tvs/1252086-toshiba-32rv753-37rv753-40rv753-owners-thread-7.html

It will only natively decode MPEG2, you need to transcode to play DivX etc
