Nice one Tolgak. I have one of these and my parents were so impressed with it they bought one themselves.

Voted hot and have some rep.

Excellent find tolgak :) Thanks for the pointer!

Can anyone tell me how this compares to a super deal on here recently for some obscure make that had a high pedigree. The price of that one was about £380.00 if my memory serves me rightly.

hi, does anyone know how this compares with the samsung 32" lcd from currys that has also been posted a few weeks ago??
by looking at the contrast, the samsung has far more but i have also heard good things about the toshiba.

any help please

£600 for a brand name, twin HDMI and a PC input - this has got to be a bargain! Unfortunately I have my 42" Toshiba coming tomorrow morning :D

I have the slightly older 37WLT58 model and it's a fine LCD TV.

Also 2 HDMI sockets for future proofing

If you get this from currys using Quidco and various codes it worksout alittle less - about 10 quid less I think. Still great deal though...

Yeah, excellent find...lifted from my thread on MSE! Lol.

Seems the Currys 10% code "TENEMAIL" has expired... any others around or new codes?

MAIL10 mate for 10%off, might get it from Currys as well for £606 after vouchers, as you get a stand from them, unlike Amazon.
There's no Widescreen option on this TV. Does that mean that I can't change a normal full screen programme to widescreen, if so that's no big problem. I will still be able to watch Widescreen DVD's in the Widescreen format?
#11
Can anyone summarize the current Currys codes?

thanks in advance :)

£588 after quidco

Ordered one two days ago, it was either this or the samsung but after looking at both tvs the toshiba had a better picture plus the extra HDMI port make it more future proof. Only problem with the tv is that it only does 4:3 resolutions when a pc is connected so the picture will be stretched unless the tv is set to 4:3 then there will be black borders down each side. Some setting i've seen that make the TV look best on all inputs:-

Backlight-50(30 when watching in the dark)
Contrast-70
brightness-53
Colour-43
Sharpness and Tint should both be left at zero
Turn off all 'picture enhancers'(Anyone who knows about tv calibration will tell you that they actually spoil the picture) that is 'black-stretch,MPEG NR and DNR
Set colour temp to NORMAL.

Hope all this helps.

This tv has picked up more best buy awards than any other tv that I've ever seen. Sure it's not going to be a match for a £1000+ tv but pound for pound at £600 you are not going to come close to it with any other tv.

It definitely is a superb TV. It's the best HD LCD TV i've seen and far better then the Samsung deal that's been going around recently. The colours and sound are excellent.

My parents have the 37" which they just got last week from John Lewis for £1200. Amazon are doing it for £849, which I better not mention to them. OK John Lewis throw in a 5 year gaurantee...but even so.

I was going to buy this TV until i read some reviews and it seems to have a fault and makes a buzzing noise when watching tv....and i just know this would wind me up....ok if you dont mind a alight buzzing noise when watching telly.

I went for the Samsung for £575

I've got one of these, and a Sammy LCD in my bedroom. It is easily a superior TV the Samsung. TBH £800 for it is a reasonable deal, £599 is just a flipping bargain! I'm half tempted to buy another at that price and get shot of the Samsung rubbish!

Please can you ellaborate on this? When you say "PC" do you mean anything through the "PC / VGA Input"?

The reason I ask is that I have my Xbox 360 Running through a VGA cable (not through componet) I prefer the extra sharp display.

Will this be in Truewidescreen ? or will it be Stretched?! :x
#19
Yeh the VGA input

Good full spec here:-
http://uk.insight.com/apps/productpresentation/index.php?product_id=TOSHMRLT66

At the "Supported Computer Resolution" section it says:-
"1024 x 768 (XGA), 640 x 480 (VGA), 800 x 600 (SVGA), 1280 x 1024 (SXGA)"
None of these are widescreen resolutions, so it would be stretched. I get my toshiba on tuesday say can post back then for def, will also try component vs vga to see which is better.

To be honest, I think most TV's make a low buzzing noise. My Panasonic CRT does if I have the volume down and no background noise - which is unusual really.

See http://www.johnlewis.com/Help/Help.aspx?HelpId=18#payment

John Lewis have a policy of matching if you have bought a tv upto 28 days after purchase. Granted it says that it does say in any UK shop and not necessarily internet deals but I think if you drop them an email and quote the price you get it for I am sure they will still refund you the difference.

I have price matched internet deals with them in the past with no problems so if I was you I'd have a go and get some money back.

Hmmm, it's a nice thought, but they bought it in-store and I know they won't price match internet prices, despite it being the same price on their site as in-store.

Unfortunately, they're not very good at buying off the internet. They're a bit old school on that one.
