Amazon have a very strange way of pricing things. This was originally £479, then went up to £529 for a couple of days, now it's £469. Excellent price though, but what will it be tomorrow?

Yes I've noticed that. They will always refund any price difference though if it gets cheaper within 28 days of delivery

Nice televisions. We've just got a Toshiba XV and are very pleased with it.

If you email them and threaten to return for refund and re-order they always do.

I have got the older model of this TV - 37XV555DB.

It is absolutely excellent, by far one of the best pictures I’ve seen.

Very good with both SD & HD sources.

I also checked the internet for some calibrated pictures settings from a review site, once these were applied, the picture was much improved.

So this should in theory be even better.

When I was in the market for a 37", the only two top end manufacturers seemed to be Toshiba and Panasonic.

This's a good price for a top HD TV. I have the AV635 which is very good. By the way you don't happen to have a link to those calibrated picture settings.

I have the 42" XV version of this TV which is exactly the same as the RV but with 100hz on top. I quickly realised that I should've just gone for the RV version as the 100hz when turned on has little to no noticeable effect. Motion blur/judder is non-existant with 100hz turned off anyway. Otherwise, this TV is amazing value for money.

100Hz is a typical marketing bluff, like 1080p to an extent. It's always nice to have though - and I can notice it, personally.

Voted cold due to chip on shoulder.

Ops, not mine.

Although, I do have a chip on my shoulder.

Hello yes here is the link to my model -

I just had to increase the backlight and then the picture settings were brilliant.

Yes

Buy it now as they are moving their production facilities for these abroad and the quality of future sets may not be as high as the ones that have been built in the UK factory (Plymouth).

Our set is great (42XV635) and we're really happy with it.

Now it's £449.99, do i hold out longer, can it go lower?

thinking about buying this, went to have a look at it in comet.
Can someone who has this tv help by advising if the Toshiba logo on the front of the telly can be turned off. The one on the front of the telly, seems to light up when the tv is switched on. I'm thinking it might be distracting if the logo stays lit up all the time. The chap in the store couldnt tell if this was because it was in a demo mode.

On my 42XV635 there is a setting in the menu that can turn the light on or off.

I suspect its the same on the one you were looking at - have a look through the instruction manual for it which can be downloaded off the Toshiba Website.

Its under "Toshiba Illumination" in the menu ;)
