Ordered, got 15% staff discount through a friend, I was going for one of the Panasonic plasmas. Swayed by a strong belief after a few beers on bank holiday monday that we were going to stroll through the World Cup finals, and this money was short loan to Sainsburys/Toshiba. Oh well, got a cheapish telly

IMO you bought the wrong TV; the Panasonic being a plasma is a far superior television particularly if you are viewing on SD. Forget the nonsense talked about the need for 1080p; I have a HD ready KURO TV which is 720p but the image it produces is far superior to anything on the market

You realise that B&O is usually tarted up Philips equipment? Well, it always used to be. They don't manufacture their on LCD panels themselves - they are supplied to them.

There have been stupider statements made on these forums - but you're in the top 20 with that one. Don't tell me, your solid gold diamond encrusted HDMI lead makes all the difference?
#24
Pio Kuro? please point where i can get a 42 inch one of these new for <400 quid with the bonus of being free if England win the WC.

other than that, it is not a fair comparison. I can buy a ferrari which is far better than my 2 seater nissan, but its a moot point as a ferrari is 5 times the price.

I actually DO prefer a top of the line plasma over LCD, but the difference is so slight these days that it is not worth arguing about. each technology has their strengths and weaknesses (motion blur, deep blacks, temporary image retention, contrast ratio, energy effiency) no 1 technology is perfect yet tho each generation is minimising their weaknesses against the competition.,

Do your research before you try and belittle him. The 2007 Pioneers were ground breaking TVs and are probably only beaten by the newer Pioneers and the top of the range latest Panasonics. You have to sit 8 feet or closer to notice any difference with 1080p over 720P with a 42 inch.

What research would you have me do?

Your own statement confirms that saying there is nothing better on the market than his 720p Kuro is plain wrong. Some (me) would also say stupid.

Sains in store claim this TV is included in the world cup promo but on the Toshiba website it is not one of the mentioned models - can anyone confirm it is included?
#33
It's listed when I looked and registered. The world cup now has some added interest for me.
#34
This tv doesn't look like it's on the toshiba world cup deal. on https://www.toshibafootball.com/England/default.asp the model number isn't shown.

40LV665D is in the promotion

this tv is 40LV665DB

Ignore me! this is on the world cup deal!

reviews seem to be positive except for sound quality
banned#36
I returned my TV after about a week due to distorted audio over HDMI and bought a Sony from Argos. Seem like a common fault on Reza units and Toshiba is aware of it but no permanent fix.
The distortion is noticed after about 1.5 to 2 hours of playback via HDMI using the TV speakers. Unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable or switching source channels seems to correct it temperately.

edit: I wasnt a bad TV for the price but with HDMI issue it is unacceptable.

Google 'Toshiba regza sound distortion" and see the number of hits.
#37
Do you use HDMI?
I've heard the sound gets very poor after 1.5hrs
#38
Does anyone still have these? - mine went back for a full refund on Monday...
