I had a browse on avforums with the same question in mind and the main advice i came away with is to go in to store and get a demo of the tv connected to various components and see the picture quality for yourself.
The Hrz thing was a major factor in the old crt tv's, but apparantly not such an issue on lcd's to the fact that they tend to be more of a marketing ploy than anything else.

It's entirely a marketing ploy.

Well the B530 is a slightly cut down B550 which, by the reviews, has been very highly recommended this year, getting rave scores of 9/10 for image quality in Trusted Reviews. I'd frankly, after viewing the Samsung and knowing people who've had quite a few issues with Tosh, would certainly lean toward the Samsung - but go check them out if you can, especially with an SD image.

None of the codes above work on this set.

Bought this yesterday at Comet ,after going to richer sounds and seeing the queues around the block, Looked at it along side the Samsung which i was going to Richer sounds for and it absolutely buries it, Great TV cracking price.

What? Why? I have Samsung stuff and have never had a problem with any of it. Do you have any helpful reasons for your comment?

What a dumb comment, nothing wrong with samsung. just bought the LE40B650, which has great reviews from AV sights and on Reevo.

Got it from Richersounds, looked at a wall of tv's using both HD and SD picture source. And to my eyes it had the best picture.

I'd recommend viewing the tv you are thinking about buying:thumbsup:

Well, got the tv home, so easy to set up and looks great.

Threads like this get boring when it gets "my samsung is better than yours etc"! and you end up having to trawl through pointless comments.:x

I can only talk from experience of owning this set for all of two hours, haven't plugged my blu ray yet!

3% Quidco too! It's about £12.

I'm tempted, but she'd kill me.

Nice, that brings the price down to £407.55. Does the voucher still work if you reserve and collect in store?

I thought the refresh rate had a bearing if you want to play games on it? I seem to remember some Xbox360 games need a 60+ hz refresh rate...?

Can't decide whether to go for this or the Samsung either?:?

Ok, went for the Toshiba in the end.
The colours looked more vibrant when I went to see.
Together with the extra 5% this is well worth it :)

My lcd broke after 30 month's as did loads of other's, Samsung didn't want to know, bad design flaw using underated parts. (capacitors).
Most of my stuff is Samsung, fridge, dvd, lcd........ Left a bad taste!

Anyone been able to compare this to the 37"XV which is of course far more money.
TBH the deal with this at comet makes this almost unmissable. Just not sure whether to buy now or wait until new tech kills these prices.
#38
Anyone know if this offer is still available?

I am trying to find a 40" HD LCD, any suggestions?
#39
Pity the mods didnt change this to electricals since i missed it being in entertainment and would have bought otherwise :(
#40
looks to be a problem with sound over hdmi according to comet reviews.
