I'm looking for a Tv for my xbox. I need no motion blur or ghosting what so ever. Rather pay more for a 100hz unless someone can vouch this tv for me.

A review from Which magazine

There are not a lot of positives to report on this 40-inch full HD LCD model from Toshiba. Picture quality is reasonable enough, but a host of glitches, rubbish EPG and truly abysmal audio make it a TV to treat with caution.

Best bit first though, the picture is actually OK and Freeview in particular is worth some praise. It looks sharp, though does have more picture noise (a subtle grainy effect) than the best TVs available. As for DVDs, colour can feel a touch cold and flat but it's still reasonably sharp and pleasing to the eye.

We did pick up on a touch of motion smear on standard-definition but felt the issue had much greater impact on high-definition. It looks sharp but a yellow tint combined with both the motion smear and some judder, make it hard to heartily recommend. And it's worth noting that the picture can fade if not watched head-on.

Audio performance is truly awful, more akin to a small portable TV rather than a great big 40-inch model. It sounds very uneven, with messy bass and boxed-in dialogue. The stereo effect is vague at best and the whole package is topped off with an annoying background hum.

There is the option to link up to a surround sound system via the digital optical output, but our tests revealed a slight delay between images on screen and sound output from the optical surround sound socket. And that isn't the only design glitch.

For instance, the volume of audio description (an additional narrative for the visually impaired) stays at the same level even when the TV volume is reduced to zero and finding picture and music files via the USB port menu is harder than it should be.

Ease of use in general is OK, but we did find some problems. The well-labelled remote is a plus point, but it did have a few small and fiddly buttons. The EPG is single channel only (so it's not easy to compare what's on) and, rather frustratingly, reverts to the current day every time it is switched between channels.

The TV is bereft of energy saving features (no screen blanking or light sensor) but bottom line power use is nevertheless respectable (just 74 watts). There is actually one eco feature but it's hardly cutting edge. Most auto-off features switch the TV off after a few minutes but the Toshiba likes to take its time and will idle away for four hours before switching to standby

Pros: Standard definition is reasonable

Cons: Awful sound quality, plenty of glitches, no Freeview HD tuner (Freeview only), no eco friendly features, frustrating EPG, judder and smear on HD

I'd go for the 100hz. I have one and you can really tell the difference.

Doesn't sound like it's worth it then, as a four year old laptop would be worth more than £50 on ebay wouldn't it?

I've ordered one anyway so I'll report back on Sat when I received it :)
