Seems to be quite a bargain for people who still want a 1080P LCD tv.
3 HDMI, only standard freeview.

Got to say, a bargain if your mum or grandparents want to take the next step up.

Toshiba are ok tv's. But got to say, I like panasonic tv's.

Anyway, enjoy if you can get one.

I did notice they had a Panasonic Plasma 42 inch tv next to it in the shop. Much clearer and sharper. £500 but did not notice the model.

A couple of samsung LCD tv for around the same price but did not notice the model.

Nearly forgot, they had the electric citroen car. You can sit in it and it was so plastic! What do you expect for a citroen. But... it was green.

Enough said.

i thought 1082p was the bees knees has it a changed ? if so what is best now

sorry 1080p

1080p is great for consoles - xbox, ps3 etc. But if you have sky hd or even freesat hd or freeview hd, the signal is really only 720p.

But 1080p is great for bluray.

You won't notice it much if you have a 32 inch tv though. The bigger the better only in this case. Don't believe what the woman tells you. Denial is always the best.

thanks for clearing that up much appreciated

Excellent value, so would vote hot if this was available nationwide. However, from what I can see bestbuy only have 5 UK stores with a sixth opening soon (the link is actually to the American website - please fix this), so it is only a minority of forum users who will be able to take advantage of this.

Why this nasty jibe. Are you wrongly assuming that everyone under 60 will already
have this TV or setup. I doubt if it is true.

Just a quote. Nothing mean't to be nasty. Maybe your mind is in the wrong mindset when reading. I just thought it would be an excellent deal as most of the time, money is now an issue!

Wrong - Sky HD is 1080i.

Whilst there's people for whom every little improvement is a must have, there'll always be an electronics industry boom!

what is 1080i?

1080i (the i meaning interlaced, differing from 1080p in which the p stands for progressive scan) is the shorthand name for a high-definition television (HDTV) video mode. The term assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a frame size of 1920×1080 pixels.

The field rate of 1080i is typically 60 Hz for countries that use or used System M as analog broadcast television system (such as United States, Canada and Japan) or 50 Hz for regions that traditionally used television systems with 25 frames/s rate (such as in Europe, Australia, much of Asia, Africa). Both variants can be carried by both major digital television transmission formats: ATSC and DVB.

The frame rate can be implied by the context, while the field rate is generally specified after the letter i, such as "1080i60". In this case 1080i60 refers to 60 fields per second or 30 frames per second. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), prefers to use the resolution and frame rate (not field rate) separated by a slash, as in 1080i/30 and 1080i/25, likewise 480i/30 and 576i/25.[1] Resolutions of 1080i60 or 1080i50 often refers to 1080i/30 or 1080i/25 in EBU notation.

1080i is directly compatible with CRT-based HDTV sets and is displayed natively in interlaced form, but must be deinterlaced and often scaled for display on modern progressive-scan LCD and plasma TV sets. Depending on the television's video processor the resulting video quality may vary.

BBC HD broadcasts in this format. In the United States, 1080i is the preferred format for CBS, NBC and The CW, though some affiliates (especially those that broadcast two digital subchannels in HD) do broadcast in 720p. Fox and ABC/ESPN broadcast in 720p.

How old was your tos cos there is such a thing as fit for purpose and if its only 1-2 years old you should be able to get it repaired or replaced ( look into it in trading standards )
