could those voting cold please link a cheaper 100hz freeview hd tv, thanks.
#3
This is actually very good. Voted hot, but temperature went down by another 3 degrees.....

Looks like its getting voted cold 'cos there are cheaper 40" TVs around, but not with this spec: 100Hz, Freeview HD, LED backlit.

Sorry, Hajj_3, I seem to be a lone voice of support....

Is this LED or LCD, John Lewis have the same model code without the DB for £749, but state it's LED. They also have a 40RV753DB 40" for £449, though its only a 50hz model. JL also mention something about a Toshiba laptop trade in for both models. Not sure if this would be useful for this offer also for anyone with an oldish laptop.
#5
Just noticed John Lewis do the same TV for £739 with a free Blu Ray player and this includes a 5 year guarantee on the TV. It's £209 at hughes for the 5yr, so if you are likely to want such a warranty and the player, the JL offer would be a bit cheaper overall.
#6
Hot because it has Freeview HD and LED Backlit.
#7
Looks good to me... thanks

"LED Edge Backlight: Yes"

Therefore it's not an led backlit tv. If you don't know the difference between edge and backlit, please dont bother replying.

I do know the difference. There's no need to get uppity about it. I thought you mean't that it wasn't even an LED TV, so in that respect, I'll apologise for the misinterpretation.

it uses 114 watts btw, nice and low for a 40".

They are the same model, the letters at the end i believe are the country where it was assembled, DB being britain, and D being germany i THINK. This tv was around £600 2 months ago. Can't believe so few people know what 100hz is as this was about -40c yesterday :P

Do you think the prices will drop?

I know it used to be customary for this to happen after christmas when we did our shopping in actual... shops.

But my experience ain't been so good with this last couple of years. Inj particular with electronic equipment, and more specifically with camcorders.

find a local shop that sells them. Go in and have a look see what you think and if you like it buy it from here. You really should see the pic quaility before you buy. I have a Sharp LED and it is cracking in HD. There were better but much more expensive.

He was well within his right to state that the TV isn't LED backlit, there's a big difference and it looks like Toshiba were trying to confuse people calling it 'Edge backlit'.
There's no such thing as 'Edge backlit', it's either one or the other, and people need to know which it is as it's a major difference, with LED backlit being far superior.
#30
^ There is edge backlit, it just means that the lights are around the edges and not all over the screen like a back lit led which is better. But there is edge lit, if u need help understanding this just google it
#31

They certainly have come down in price in a short space of time. When I was looking 2 months ago these were £800 - 900. Good Spot, put it on as a deal in its own right.

That is edge lit, not edge backlit.
It's people like you that confuse others...

Edge lit = LED's around edge or screen.
Back lit (otherwise known as 'Full array') = True LED backlit across the entire back of the screen. If you have lots of cash you'll get one with localised dimming (RGB dynamic).

paulsssss
If you're not interested in Freeview HD, that would be a good buy.
