This is not a proper Toshiba. The only aspect that's 'Toshiba' is the name on the front of the set. It's designed & made by Taiwanese company Unihan. Reviews...

http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/tvs/toshiba-regza-hl-42hl833b-review-50003990/Verdict 2.5/5 ... "The Toshiba Regza 42HL833B is cheap for a 42-inch LED TV, but its poor audio, average pictures and lack of Internet features mean it's not particularly good value for money".

Same with most TV's they don't make the actual screens. Sony do the same thing.

Sony outsource the assembly, but generally design the specification of the TV. This 'Toshiba' is another company's product. Doesn't really matter if performance is good, but this one is below average.

No Sony do exactly the same thing as Toshiba with their lower models. They probably use the same panels from the same factories.

Anyhow, find me a branded 42" LED TV for less than £300 with 12 months warranty. You can't, so can't complain really.

I don't think so, but am happy to be proven wrong. Please name the models & the manufacturer.

This TV's performance is so mediocre that it's not good value, even as a £300 refurb. The discriminating buyer will spend £350 on a brand new LCD with good performance, e.g. LG 42LK450...

Do you base your whole life on Which reviews? If Which told you to jump off a cliff would you? Anyhow, the LG is £50 more and isn't an LED back lit TV. Not saying that this Toshiba is the best TV in the world, but it's a good price.

As the poster above says, 'it's a good price'
Good deal, voted hot

Refurb means someone didn't like it and returned to store. For a reason, probably.
