TOSHIBA 42ZV635DB 42" 1080p LCD TV for £769.99. Not sure if there are other vouchers to take the price down + 3% off quidco.

Not so much a deal but I was hoping people could post on TVs similiar to this that are going for a good deal due to the lack of TVs on hotukdeals at this deal-central time of year.

Could anyone recommend buying the Panasonic VIERA TX-P46G10B 46" Full HD Plasma TV over this? Here is the link to the most recent deal on it but people are saying that there was a good deal on it 2 weeks ago for a lot cheaper which put me off buying it for this price. Here's the link : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/565425/panasonic-viera-tx-p46g10b-46-full-

Also, the panasonic has freesat whereas this one does not. Still if the Toshiba is better I would sacrifice freesat for it.
Please keep posting possible deals as there are some out there and we have to be quick!

Yeah I think this is a bit pricy for a Toshiba.

Toshiba make bottom end TV's and Panasonic make the top end TV's.

Just had a quick look at the stat comparison, that Toshiba looks rubbish compared to the Panasonic. The Panasonic has twice the contrast ratio and is 4" bigger. It also has Freesat HD. That Toshiba is just embarrassing.

I like your thinking. Might be an idea to start a "Get me a New TV" Thread were people could post the latest deals. I have £700ish to get my a PS3 and a 40-42 tv with 1080p. 100hrz and a couple of scart/hdmi inputs

If anyone wants to say this is a bad deal, please post a TV that is a better deal and we can discuss it to see which is the right one to buy

Ok thats good to know. Any reason for it being more expensive do you think?

The Toshiba is crap, that deal you posted before is amazing.

Panasonic Plasma (!!!PLASMA, not LCD!!!!) It's a miles better TV over twice as good as that Toshiba thing.

Who would buy that Toshiba thing? I guess it would be easier to wall mount but the picture would be awful in comparison to that Panny.

its just im put off buying it as it was going for around £620 a few weeks ago @very : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/550815/panasonic-50in-full-hd-freesat-plas?t=550815

That's a hilarious bit of delusional fanboy fiction if ever I read any! At least twice as good as the last bit i read... ;-)
EDIT: Incidentally the Toshiba is a totally rubbish deal btw...

I was looking for a reason why it is more expensive and I can't find one.

I've not been in to TV's for about 4 months since I bought the one for my living room.
A full HD plasma TV will always give you a better picture than a full HD LCD.

I heard they are stopping making plasma TV's though as the build costs are too expensive compared to cheaper to produce LCD models. The Panasonic plasma could be the end of a model line, you will always get the best picture out of a plasma though as they can produce a much deeper black and have a much higher refresh rate (so no ghosting). If you want the best picture for watching TV then go for plasma, LCD's are best for PC monitors or running as a display for slideshows in a school.

LCD panels consume less energy and are lighter so you can mount them on the wall.
Some plasma sets don't have in built speakers (the one I have doesn't) I think all LCD TV's have speakers inbuilt.

I'm no fanboy, I don't have a Toshiba or a Panasonic.

It's just a fact that LCD displays don't produce a picture as good as a plasma.

The only difference is that its 50" instead of 46" and surely thats a good thing

I didn't have time to check the specifications.
I noticed that it was a different model number and a different size but i'm in the middle of having a shower and didn't have time to look up the contrast ratio, refresh rate etc.

Basically the top end Panasonic plasma TV's are the ones to go for. The newer the better and the bigger the better. Pioneer used to make mind blowing plasma TV's but I haven't seen them on sale anywhere of late.

Your best bet for advice is to search the AV forums http://www.avforums.com/ for the model number of the TVs that you're looking at. That's what I did when I was looking for one. The people there will know a lot more than what I do.

Having owned a Toshiba and currently owning a Panasonic, the picture is better but not twice as good. I'd say prolly 10% better in reality. Yes you get much blacker blacks but you lose brightness...

The best TV's atm are the 50" Samsung from Currys for £599, the 50" Panasonic from M&S for £669 and the Samsung 40" at £605 (with code) from Argos IMO.

These are the 3 I'm mulling between.
