"A100" laptop with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
£249.00

Energy-efficient wireless laptop with dual core architecture for twice the processing power, plus next generation Windows Vista Home Basic software that's easier, safer and more entertaining. Even more productivity and Media Center entertainment.

Mid level. Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology with Intel Core Duo processor T2250. Windows Vista Home basic edition. 512Mb DDR2 RAM. 60Gb (5400) hard drive. 15.4in TFT WXGA screen. ATI Radeon Xpress 200m 128Mb UMA. DVD-Supermulti (dual layer) graphics. Integrated Wi Fi 802.11a/g.
The preferred edition of Windows for home desktop and mobile PCs. Windows Vista Home Premium delivers more productivity and Media Centre entertainment at home and on the go - making it easy to enjoy digital photos, music, TV and movies while providing a whole new level of security and reliability. Minimum requirements: 800-MHz or faster processor, 512Mb of system memory and a graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable. TOSHIBA helpline: 0870 2202 202.

Probably a missprice as its also priced at £649.00 (But with Windows Vista Home Basic). It also appears to be misleading as it state's that it's Windows Vista Home Premium edition but then goes on to state Windows Vista home Basic and then goe's on about the Media Centre feature which is not available in Windows Vista Home Basic. Even if it is only Windows Vista Home Basic it's still a bargain!.

ATTENTION: Time to go home people, NOONE is getting this, they are not obliged to honour anything if they refund you promptly. Stop wasting time hoping on a prayer ;-)

...The way it mentions one version of Windows after another is *very* off-putting...
Even with Vista Basic, it would struggle with 512mb RAM - I tested a late Beta of Vista Basic and with 768mb it was a dog... and pretty pointless, not much different than XP in feel. If you want the Vista experience, you have to get Premium or Ultimate so that the Aero and enhanced media features work properly. You nead at least 1024 of ram, preferably double that...

But this is a very cheap computer and I guess is good value for the money in terms of hardware spec.
#2
Can you not put xp back on though? at £250 this seems very cheap for a new laptop.
#3
I couldn't care less about Vista.

How easy would it be for me to buy this, format the drive and install XP?

How about upgrading the RAM?

And is this a misprice?
#4
It's no problem to install XP (or Linux for that matter) if you have some computer knowledge or know anyone who does!

It's a real steal at this price and there's an A100 with student Office 2007 there too at £149! plus 6% quidco I presume.

This must have been a misprice so I'm not holding my breath but its worth a shot:thumbsup:
#6
I went for it, at that price including delivery I can easily add memory to it. I don't think they'll process the order at that price though.
#7
Can I suggest you all use XX220 for 10% off?

£224 quid for a brand new core duo laptop = insane.

another 15 off for first customers.

#10
jut ordered 1 - total £204.10 with 20% voucher ZG0166
#11
ZG0166 is £20 not 20%
#12
Here is the spec from the Toshiba website, I would imagine it is one 512Mb stick of ram so you could upgrade by adding another.

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/productPage.do?service=UK&PRODUCT_ID=125192&toshibaShop=false#0

Seems too good to be true tho.
#13
sorry my mistake - £20 off not 20%
#14
Right. Delete this thread now so we have some chance of getting these delivered!!!!
#15
The £149 one is incredibly cheap! Would be very surprised if they honour the deal but I tried anyway... did not bother with the codes as cheap enough already and did not want to complicate matters (which has happened before when using codes with Littlewoods - order got delayed which might mean missing out)...
#16
please close the thread as above

#20

Can't see much chance of getting at this price....
#21
£150 one?
#22
I am in 2 minds whether we should delete the thread as it goes against everything hot deals tries to do but then again as far as I am aware noone got woolies toshiba tvs.
#23
I think the thread should be deleted...it's better that the few get benefit, than no one at all.

In my personal opinion...
#25
i'm already thinking of names to call littlewoods IF they start cancelling.

Me too!!

Selfish but we all know if this gets hammered then no one benefits.
#27
Delete, you win some you lose some
#28

#29

Here's a suggestion: sensible.

If they do, we move on. Agreed?

"PLEASE NOTE:

Occasionally you may find that some of the prices on this website are slightly cheaper than our catalogue.
That's even more savings for you! "

Ha Ha Ha!

Just placed an order for one of these, but nothing is showing in my account, track order, or transaction history fields....hmm

I'm still showing "order being processed"
#35
What's the script with LXDIRECT TOO?? £129
#36
Just got my first email, with the clause: "All orders are subject to stock availability and meeting our terms and conditions"

I do not expect this to be honoured, but that's the gamble I took.
#37
Ok so now I know which laptop I'm taking with me on our Thomson's £30 per person Egyptian red sea cruise
#38
I have a littlewoods account and the option for 52 weeks interest free credit is also available? The order has been accepted and shows as trackable but the delivery time shows as Feb 20th I believe they won't honour this purchase.
#39
This might make up for the play gateway fiasco - but I doubt it:roll:
#40
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so had a go for one.

I just wish people would realise that if they order multiples of items like this then it significantly increases the risk of all orders being cancelled, so don't do it. Go for one and keep your fingers crossed. One has to be better than nothing!
