It should do but even better the BDX1200 can be made region free for DVD and blu-ray. With blu-ray you have to press a 4 digit number to change regions but it only takes a few seconds

I got one from Amazon and have done just that.
    Works great.

    Info here

Didn't buy from RS because they never picked up the phone so I could check stock before going.
This is a hot deal though.

Bit of a non event really, isn't it?

A tenner off a cheap Blu Ray player, its not like the £79 deals on the Sony Blu Ray players the past couple of years which was a good hefty discount.

The £79.95 Sony Players were reduced from £99.95 at that time, that was 20% off their selling price.

Guess what...that is exactly the same reduction here.

Sorry I took the time to post it, I forgot HUKD is just for you. Try finding this unit for anywhere under £49.95 let alone £39.95

No need to throw your toys out the pram. I'm not criticising you I'm criticising Richer Sounds, who normally have 4 or 5 amazing Boxing Day deals but this year they aren't really of any note.

And to be fair this player has been under £50 before today. Argos are also offering it for £74 with 12 months Lovefilm which is worth £70 in itself and its in stock everywhere.

Which is not under £50 whichever way you look at it...nothing to do with throwing toys out the pram...you are drawing criticisms that don't exist.

20% off is exactly the same as the Sony deal which you said this wasn't as good...so that in itself is an unfair criticism of the deal and Richer Sounds reduction!

Yes but those Sony players were also selling for £150+ throughout the preceding year, and both the Sony models were top budget players. This is a cheap blu ray of not any great quality being sold for a tenner cheaper than RS have been selling it for the last couple of months.

Sorry to have posted a deal that isn't for you, can you please suggest to anyone on here what is a better quality Blu Ray Player for £40 please? The Onn from Asda?!!?!

This is a BD Live player that is easily hackable for multi region Blu Ray playback..whilst I own a in your opinion much better Sony...mainly for SACD playback, I can appreciate that not everyone has the money to splash out on such "luxuries".

Find me a none reconditioned BRANDED (none supermarket) Blu Ray Player out there this side of xmas for under £40 and I will accept your argument.

As for the quality of this player, it doesn't have the networking capabilities of more expensive machines, but has great picture quality, which along with sound is the most important thing of any Blu Ray Player.

The RRP of it was £109, the same as the RRP of the Sonys at the time were £149 nowhere sold them at that price, and Richer Sounds are amongst the cheapest even before the extra 20% off.

Different quality units in regards of functionality I agree...but same economies of scale in reduction.

For a cheap blu-ray player it's actually very good, there's a review by a AV Forums member who used to review these for the site, review here

I'm not saying its not a good buy, to be fair I'm after a multi region blu ray player and might get one as I'm fed up of sub standard UK blu ray releases but using any language such as "luxuries" etc is ridiculous. A blu ray player whether £40 or £400 is a luxury.

Also Asda have a £40 LG available now and Hi Spek have a 50% reduction on another LG player down to £45 also available now I believe.

All I'm saying is that their boxing day deals in the past have been the best around and got a lot of attention, I guarantee that the interest in this will be much lower than the previous Sony deals.

From last year's Sony Blu Ray Richer Sounds boxing day deal by the OP "Can't believe I paid £150 for this late October." In late October this Toshiba was £49 at Richer Sounds

You were complaining it wasn't a good buy. I don't see how you can retract that argument! Trying to be pedantic as well by further dragging into the argument the differences in the term "luxuries" just proves to me that you like to be argumentative for the sake of it. My reasoning of luxuries is purely the fact that people have different budgets to spend on such players, obviously the higher the cost, the more features, and not always ones that are necessary to the buyer. Such as twin HDMI on a 3D Player for people that already have 1.4 ready receivers, or analogue outputs for those with pre-HDMI receivers, or networking, for those that don't want or need it (own media players, or a tv with inbuilt media capabilities)

If you are thinking of getting one, a simple thanks for the heads up to the OP (Me) may have been sufficient? Maybe?

Then surely time would be better spent posting those Hot deals rather than attempting a thread spoil on another one?

And I have already attempted to explain that any criticism drawn against Richer Sounds it is exactly the same economy of scale in reduction just on two different qualities of budget blu ray players.

If you want a networking budget Blu Ray player..obviously look elsewhere.
