Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-Ray Player with BD Live £199.99 @ Amazon

£199.99 @ Amazon
Toshiba's new blu-ray player. Couldn't find this anywhere else but on Amazon and it's in stock from today. It doesn't play hd-dvds apparently :P

It's overpriced as well

It is a bit expensive but it's supposed to be a good blu-ray player with 1080p24 and bd live. You also get a free 12 month subscription to lovefilm if you register after purchase on the website

Interesting to see this new player as I was one of HD DVD's early adopters....

However, from what I read on the net, it is strongly suggested that this is an OEM machine from another as yet unamed manufacturer - hence the lack of Tosh's excellent XDE upscaling chip for DVD's for example.

Strange too that they have decided on SD memory instead of the ususal USB stick, although as someone else has pointed out, why can't manufacturers include the small amount of memory for BD Live features onboard?

It didn't bode well in the States when Best Buy immediately dropped the price at launch from the suggested $249 to $199....which of course now equates to £199 ripoff price over here.:x http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/26/toshibas-bdx2000-blu-ray-deck-hits-best-buy-for-199-sour-grap/

Methinks Toshiba are going to have to sharpen their pencils by quite a bit if they are to compete with the likes of Sony's excellent S360 which on average sells for around £130.

Sorry, but voted cold...I don't see thai as any sort of 'deal' at all. :whistling:

I was looking at this as I have the Tosh 42XV635DB TV and thought it would be handy to use the REGZA-LINK but as you say it is a ripoff price (also £199 at Comet) when its around £120 in America (and they are moaning about that price!) so I've gone for the Sony S360 from Play for £95. I think the price will drop soon but not to £95!
