"The Toshiba puts up a decent performance for the price, with punchy whites and deep blacks, and breezy usability." What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine.
The Toshiba BDX2100 is the ideal starter Blu-ray player. For the price of an inferior brand player you get a top-branded machine with easy operation, all the basic features and, most importantly, excellent picture quality. As What Hi-Fi magazine found, the picture quality is beyond criticism at this price with excellent detail and bright colour. For even more tailored results, you can fine tune elements of the picture such as the saturation and brightness. As with other Blu-ray players, the Toshiba BDX2100 will also upscale your existing DVDs to Full 1080p meaning better clarity from the films you already have. In terms of sound quality, the BDX2100 also impresses. As What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine put it, "whether it's a CD or movie soundtrack, the Toshiba sounds neither hard nor insubstantial."
As the BDX2100 is a Profile 2 machine it will connect to the web via Ethernet cable. From here you can access extra material, including any firmware updates. There's also a handy 256MB memory built-in which is ideal for such additional content. In addition to this, a front-mounted USB socket let's you hook up a digital camera or media device - it's also compatible with the DivX format.
With its multi-dimensional front panel and simple button layout the BDX2100 blends well with modern TVs. It's also very easy to use. As an introduction to Blu-ray, the Toshiba BDX2100 is as good as it gets!
