I bought this deal when it was £99.99 and it was a bargain then. The picture is great (even my wife noticed the diference) and thr Lovefilm deals is working very nicely.

Yep - cheap enough at £100 considering the rental package is worth almost that much anyway. I think I'm right in saying you get the £7.99 package i.e. 4 discs/mth.

Great player, great price - PMSL at the 19.99 entry level HDMI cable that they offer though, so that's 1000%markup at least then :)
#4
Also at Currys for the same price. Just reserved for collection in store ;)
#5
Oh and you get 4 hours worth of online movie streaming per month as well from Lovefilm
#6
Nice one...
#7
good price. Heat added
#8
Does anyone know whether this outputs at both 50Hz and 60Hz?
#9
Really tempted by this deal, but would hate to be but on one of lovefilms lower packages..
Anybody know which package you would get with this?
#10
4 films a month and 2 at anyone time.
#11
You get 4 films a month with it.
HDMI cable is included from memory.
Amusing that Dixons are trying to sell a "high speed" HDMI cable with it :)
#12
Can anyone else confirm if a hdmi cable is included
#13
Does anyone know what Toshiba Blu-Ray players are included on the years lovefilm subscription offer? This looks like a good offer but im tempted to pay a bit more to get a player that can also function as a movie streamer, so was wondering if there are any "better" players out therr

Just this one and the bdx2000

Anyone know if I can rent games with this package?
Thanks.

Looks like a fantastic deal. Very tempted, BUT...I already have a LOVEFILM subscription package. Does anyone know how this works exactly? Is it available to existing customers too? Or would I have to cancel my (unlimited) package first. Wonder if they would allow 2 accounts on the same address?

Just entry level then? Ah well, shame but then a 12 month free lovefilm contract cant be sniffed at! Will just have to get a Popcorn Hour :)

The player here is actually a 'stripped down' version of their original BUT with better picture quality and faster loading etc - i.e. second generation. Don't forget that Toshiba came very late to market with bluray so were able to enter with 'catch up' spec.

Review here http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/review/2010/07/14/Toshiba-BDX2100/p1

The free Lovefilm sub really makes this deal - the player with no sub is £100 on Amazon as a comparison.
#19
Decided to go for it. Hope they will let me open a second Lovefilm account though. I went through Quidco, so will hopefully get 3% cashback. Heat added and repped
#20
Can use Quidco for a couple of quid off as well. (3% cashback = total cost of £77.60)
#21
Just gone for one, been considering this player for a while due to the h264/mkv support as it means I can sell my second WD HDTV player for the bedroom.
#22
Looks good. If it had digital optical out, I may have got it.
#23
This looks great, Does anyone know if this can be made to become region free for both dvd and Bluray and if it plays divx. Cheers:D
#24
It doesnt have an optical digital audio output but has "coaxial digital and analogue stereo outputs".

Am I right to assume I wouldnt get 5.1 sound on my surround system which has an optical input?

Been trying to find out about region free myself - I don't think it can :(

I just phoned head office as I have the same issue....waiting for a callback to answer my query :)

In the meantime this may be worth a look:

All you need is an optical to coax converter for under a tenner e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Optical-SPDIF-TOSlink-Coaxial-Converter/dp/B0015LNV2M

Never used one myself, but 'they' say they work well.

Got one from curry's with free delivery. Heat added.

I believe if you contact LoveFilm, you can add the free subscription to your current account, so no need for 2 accounts.

Thanks for the link. Couldn't really find out one way or another. Although they do mention in Lovefilm's terms that it's possible to have a gift subscription alongside your existing package. Will be interesting to hear what head office tell you. It would be fantastic if you could just deduct the worth of the promotional package off your existing one. I'm on unlimited with games at the mo. If not possible I'll hopefully just be able to have a second account which allows me to have some disks at home.
#31
cheers djvrs. That would be good if they will just deduct it off my current package

you won't, as soon as you put the same address in, regardless of what card you use it will get flagged. The only way around it would be to wait a few months and then open one up in your partners name. When they then flag it just say that you moved in a month or so back as you are renting. That's what me and my partner did to take advantage of 2 offers.

Once you have opened an account up in your name and at your address you can't open anymore accounts without paying, doesn't matter what email/credit card address you use, and of course you can't change your name as you need to enter your card details for verification and they won't match.

Edit: just seen the post above about adding it to your current one, might want to speak to their overseas call centre and check although their english is appalling lol

This is a great deal, bought one for the inlaws at £100 two weeks ago.

WARNING: Toshiba make it annoyingly hard to get the subscription. you must:
1. register the product within 7 days of purchase
2. Print the registration letter from their website (you only have one chance to do this)
3. Send your reciept, registration letter and proof of date of birth to them within 2 weeks of registration.

Jumping through loops like this is crap but worth it in the end up.

I got this deal a few months back and can thoroughly recommend going for it.
I had an existing account and added the code in my account as a 'gift subscription' which added a whole years subs straight away - No fuss and no need to open a second account.
#35
Thanks OP just ordered.

I got this deal a few months ago.

Getting the Lovefilm subscription is a bit of hassle and takes about 3 weeks in all, but worth it.

I am having a problem with the bluray player however. I rented 500 Days of Summer from Lovefilm. The first I tried playing it, it went to a red screen saying my bluray player's software needed updating. I tried again and this time it worked but froze about 20 minutes in. So I figured I would need a firmware update, however I have not been able to find one anywhere on the net. Very annoying, am trying to get through to Toshiba's customer support at the moment but takes forever. Anyone knew of any solutions?

Had loads of trouble getting cashback through Toshiba on tv purchased earlier in the year, and so did many others. Hope this will not be the same as the terms and conditions look the same as before.
#38
Thanks Mr. Smooth and Mr. Furious. Am hoping to just add the code under gift subscriptions. Brilliant deal!

How quickly do you get the lovefilm sub? Could you return the DVD player if they refuse the sub?
#40
There are no firmware updates for either the bdx2000 or the bdx2100 at this time
